Review: The Nanny by Lana Ferguson

The Nanny The Nanny by Lana Ferguson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

After reading Fake Mate, I dived into Lana Ferguson's first novel to get immersed into her writing again. And I definitely enjoyed it, just not as much as her second novel.

Aiden and Cassie are such opposites that they just click so well. I ADORE Cassie. She's honestly the sweetest person ever. The way she is around Sophie? And Wanda? And how she melted Iris? Cassie has a way to open up everyone around her and I adore that more than words can say.

The back story of how they met was meh to me. I could have kept the nanny, etc, but it was unique I suppose.

But I seriously love all of the relationships in this book and definitely won't forget them any time soon. Very excited to read Lana's upcoming novel in 2024!

Review: The Fake Mate by Lana Ferguson

The Fake Mate The Fake Mate by Lana Ferguson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read this because I fell in love with the Fairyloot special edition, and then I ended up falling in love with the story! Noah and Mack are amazing. They are such opposites but together they just make sense. I loved it when Mack teased Noah. Most went right over his head in the beginning and it was hilarious.

And then when their attraction got away with them? I was just along for the ride enjoying every minute of it.

I really hope I can get the SE in Feb through Fairyloot because I would love to own this edition! I'm glad I decided to try it and now I'm reading all of Lana Ferguson's books!

Review: Promising Today by A.M. Kusi

Promising Today Promising Today by A.M. Kusi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

A.M. Kusi never fails to suck me into their stories! I love Nova and Judes story. These two instantly gravitated toward each other and watching them fumble work their feelings was endearing and intense.

I love that both were lost and had no idea what they were doing in life. Jude even said he was in his 30s with no plan and that got me emotionally. I've been going through really big changes and am also in my 30s so it just made me feel recognized and less embarrassed that I'm in this state of my life.

That's what is the best part about this authors novel: I can relate on so many levels and I realize that life happens and as long as I keep fighting, I'm doing okay. Nova and Jude are doing okay. Day by day.

We finally get to discover who the killer is since book 1 and I had no freaking clue who it was until a chapter or two before it was revealed. And I loved that I couldn't predict it. Usually I can so it was a change of pace to be surprised at the reveal!

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this novel and get immersed into this beautiful story. I've been trying, and will continue to try, to get all of my friends to read this author because I think so many readers will love this series! I CANNOT wait for the next series as I've been waiting to find out about this group of characters!

Review: ETERN1TY by Erin Noelle

ETERN1TY ETERN1TY by Erin Noelle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The ending to this duet was amazing. I loved how Tavian and Lyra made each other the mission in life and had no regrets about their decisions. Seeing that much love shine between two people is the ultimate goal in a relationship.

Annie needs to get done serious help. Having been Annie, I get how she is feeling, but to do what she did? That's not right no matter what happened to her. To be enamored that much in one person that you make horrible decisions? No no no.

I really am curious why the numbers came back and that they were different. We'll never figured out why, but it will leave me wondering for weeks to come.

Glad my friend recommended this series to me! Really glad I experienced this story.

Review: EXP1RE by Erin Noelle

EXP1RE EXP1RE by Erin Noelle
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This review has major spoilers!

I was recommended this book by a friend and I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! The whole concept of seeing death dates in people's eyes is crazy. I would have followed Lyra's philosophy and never look at people in the eye. Id rather be looked as rude than know when that person will die.

Tavian is a fun character. He definitely gets Lyra to open up which I'm glad. She needed some happiness in her life. I'm just a bit disappointed he cheated on his girlfriend with Lyra. He could have tried harder to end the relationship first or restrained himself until he did it in person.

That ending, though? The proposal? I'm curious what Tavian will do. And to find out he also can see dates?? And that he and Lyra have the same date? It really intrigued me and now I have book 2 to find out how this all ends!

Review: Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros

Iron Flame Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I've had this book since release day and a month after, I've read this twice now. I haven't been this obsessed over a book series for many years and I honestly am not sure how to move into another book with the emptiness I have when done. I sound dramatic, but it's true lol.

Violet is fantastic. The brain this girl has, she's always figuring things out way before anyone else and it's all thanks to her scribe life she was preparing for. People think reading books is silly, but it's not. Gathering information and learning facts will prepare a person to be equipped with everything they may need to know in a single second.

I love Violet interacting with Tarin and Andarna. The love she has for her dragons, actually everyone in her life, is so strong and pure. She is so selfless and is always trying to save everyone but herself.

Xaden is so swoon-worthy, but also annoying. I get all of the choices he made (except the last one) but it doesn't mean I liked him during those moments. And the moments he was SHOWING Violet he loved her? Oh boy, they were convincing moments!

There is so much that happens in this novel. Yarros has a way of shoving so much info but it doesn't feel like we are bombarded with everything all at once.

I loved all of the returning characters and all of the new characters. I'm very intrigued to see what events will happen with Aaric. I feel like he's going to have a major role soon.

Dain left my "he can be unalived" corner and moved to my "just stay here and be quiet" corner. He can still be moved depending on what he did in the next book. Still up for debate.

As you can see I'm still all over the place when it comes to this book, this series, but I love it so much and know I'll be rereading before book 3 is released to get immersed into this amazing world again.

Review: A Forever Love by Vikki Jay

A Forever Love A Forever Love by Vikki Jay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

We have seen Carter and Merida gravitating around each other for so long that getting their story was a such a special gift! I loved seeing how things worked out between them, though the forbidden love is always a tricky subject for me. However, I adore these characters so much that I ignored all the secrets that were building and just enjoyed watching these two get to a love that cannot be denied.

I am proud of Merida for trying to put herself first and avoid Carter. I'm sad she had to avoid her whole family for 4 years, but she knew it wasn't a healthy environment to be in and she really really tried.

And Carter's reaction to get once she returned? I loved his new perspective on the woman she became and how he couldn't stop thinking about her.

I really enjoyed this book and watching these characters fall for each other. I loved revisiting this world and I know whatever Vikki Jay comes up with next week be just as dynamite!

Review: Craving My Rival by P. Rayne

Craving My Rival Craving My Rival by P. Rayne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Valentine PR. This is my honest review.

Ever since P. Rayne released the Mafia Academy series, I've been obsessed and loving each book. Each one I loved for different reasons and I cannot get enough of them. Polina and Dante couldn't be more disgusted with this arrangement, but seeing both of them come to terms in the fact that they had no idea who the other person REALLY was? It was fantastic to see them learn the real person they were engaged to and how they both fell so hard for each other!

The "enemy" in this novel? I seriously wouldn't have called that in any novel. Do unique and shocking to me.

I absolutely loved this book and this series and I cannot wait to see what else P. Rayne cooks up next!

Review: Among the Heather by Samantha Young

Among the Heather Among the Heather by Samantha Young
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Aria and North are amazing characters! I loved every moment of this book and couldn't stop reading! I seriously love all Samantha Young books but this one was top notch, not gonna lie.

The tension between these two was out of this world. I love love love how North made it his mission to prove to Aria she is beautiful inside and out and he would not allow her to think otherwise. And him falling first? Swoon! Aria had been their so much judgment and criticism her whole life but North had the right amount of patience needed to show her exactly what he sees when he looks at her. I loved that so much.

There was so much drama in the background to keep the story flowing around their relationship and it kept just enough suspension to keep the reader wanting to know more. I loved all of the pieces of this book and I'm so glad I devoured it.

I cannot wait for Theo's story next! That synopsis sounds so intriguing! I definitely recommend this series and this author so much!

Review: A Festive Feud by Maren Moore

A Festive Feud A Festive Feud by Maren Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This is a cute holiday novella! I normally don't like Christmas romances cause they are always clichéd, which this was, but it was told in an amazing way that kept my interest their the whole story and had me rooting for the two characters to succeed their mission.

I love how Jackson and Emma were at each others throats but couldn't stop their wandering minds from being attracted to one another. And Jackson making the first move? Swoon!

I liked that this was a novella so there wasn't TOO much drama and the resolution was done in a quick manner versus being dragged out.

I also loved that this was dual POV versus I loved seeing both characters fall for each other.

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this story and I'm looking for to more by Maren Moore!

Review: Reckless Hearts by Jagger Cole

Reckless Hearts Reckless Hearts by Jagger Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Valentine PR. This is my honest review.

Deimos and Delilah are fantastic! I absolutely loved their story and all of the twists and turns that happened throughout this book. I was able to be suspicious of each character that was guilty of something, even if I didn't know their exact motives for their actions.

The things both Deimos and Delilah went through as kids is horrifying. No one should have to experience that in their lives, and for them to still be haunted by those events most be torture for both of them.

I'm glad they finally learned the truth of everything they've been through to really make their relationship stronger and their decisions that much more positive they are making the right decision.

I loved seeing the past characters all come together for events in the book. There are so many couples now it's insane how many people there are total!

Very much loved this book and can't wait for the next Jagger Cole book!

Review: A Fire in the Flesh by Jennifer L Armentrout

A Fire in the Flesh A Fire in the Flesh by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Sera and Nyktos are my two favorites in this world that JLA has created, so I was extremely happy to be with them again in this novel. And this book has so much going on. So many questions get answered, but then a while nother mind blowing reveal gets uncovered and somehow JLA can still surprise me after 70 books!

Because this book had so much information, I found the middle part to be important, but a bit slow paced. Plus one half of the couple was gone for most of the book so I was sad and wanting more Sera+Nyktos moments, which is why I didn't give this book my full 5 stars. It's a necessary book, but I'm realizing I'm about action and tension for the majority of the book and I didn't have that as much as I wanted.

There were so many reveals in this book, so many moments of "I've been waiting to find that out"! So I loved that. There are also moments that can be hard to read through, so just tread with caution. I myself had to take a few breaks after certain scenes to recoup from my personal experience and the moments in the book. Nothing too horrible, but enough to be triggering to some I'm sure.

I'm really glad that we are going to get the final book next before diving back into Poppy's story. I can't wait to see how this story ends and how it begins in the next FBAA novel. Seeing this unfold with release date order is unique and fun and keeps the reader guessing and asking questions.

So glad I got the chance to read this and, as always, can't wait for the next JLA masterpiece!

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

I absolutely love this series and I'm so glad I discovered RG Angel to now obsess over. Jiro and Hope's story was sweet to watch. They both are dealing with their grief with Hope's sister, but also feel a connection with each other that grows for each other the longer the novel goes. I'm so glad they found each other and were able to heal with each other.

I love seeing the preview books couples make an appearance and loved seeing Jiro and Hope bloom together. So glad I got the chance to read this and can't wait for more!

I loved how even though it was an arranged marriage, you could tell they were meant for each other. And Drago really surprised me and I feel so hard for him.

I will definitely be revisiting these characters in my future because I loved it so much! Cant wait for the next installment by Neva Altaj!

Even though it's been a year since the last book, diving into the story was flawless and I was able to get completely immersed into the story once again.

Kerrigan, as always, is on another mission that kept me trapped from page one until the last. I adore her and her bravery through all of the missions she's been put through during this whole adventure.

I'm so glad there is another book coming in this series to continue this journey as I'm not quite ready to say goodbye yet.

Review: The Oath we Give by Monty Jay

The Oath we Give The Oath we Give by Monty Jay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Monty Jay has such a way with words. All of this authors novels just blow me away because there is always so MUCH more than the initial story line. The characters are always fantastic and I'm hooked from page one until the last. I can't get enough of Monty Jay's books and I will always keep coming back for more and more.

Silas and Coraline have both been through SO MUCH in their lives. More than anyone should have to go through. And for them to find each other and heal with each other was so amazing to see. It may not have gone smoothly, but I was there with them rooting for then to finally get some happy in their lives.

I'm sad to see this series come to an end, but I know I will revisit all of these boys over and over again. I can't recommend this series enough!

Into the Woods: A Mad World Novel Into the Woods: A Mad World Novel by Hannah McBride
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Oh. My. I loved Bex and Courts story!! These two have SUCH a past and being able to get the full story of what happened was so fulfilling, even if it was a devastating story.

I'm so glad Court finally decided to go after what he wanted. I get he's been through a lot, but the way he's been stringing along Bex was so unfair to her. But once he decided he was done ignoring his true feelings? It was like a switch was flipped inside of him and he was constantly wanting to be with Bex. It was amazing.

And Bex. This girl is always finding herself in bad situations. I need her to live a normal, safe life soon because she's been through so much in such a short amount of time.

I'm absolutely in love with these two characters and I'm so glad I got the chance to read this! Hannah McBride is a fantastic author and I can't wait to see what next masterpiece she creates next!

I have been WAITING for Gabriel's story since the moment we met him in this series and I'm so glad it's finally here! This novel absolutely moved to the top of my favorites, not only in this series but of my books read in 2023.

The intensity between Gabriel and Aria is through the roof in this book and leaves you on the edge of your seat needing more.

And the background story of the mystery they need to uncover just added so much to this story.

I'm so glad we finally got this story in this series and I know I'll be revisiting these characters again in my future. Looking forward to more to come!

Review: P.S. I'm Still Yours by Eliah Greenwood

P.S. I'm Still Yours: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romance P.S. I'm Still Yours by Eliah Greenwood
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This book was packed with emotion from start to finish! Kane and Hadley have a lot of history and a lot of intense moments between each other. Seeing them interact for the first time in 5 years was emotional.

And the secrets Kane was keeping? That made him be all got and cold throughout the whole story? I can't imagine the stress he was under but poor Hadley having to deal with his mood swings so drastically from each other.

Safe to say this book will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page, making you want to keep reading until it's over. I'm glad I got the chance to read this novel!

I love Castle and Callie's story. Castle tried his hardest to ignore his attraction he had for Callie but thank goodness she is stubborn and knows how to push his buttons.

I also enjoyed the side story of event else going on around these two characters. Jagger knows how to weave so many elements into his novels to keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

Review: Homerun Proposal by Maren Moore

Homerun Proposal Homerun Proposal by Maren Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Oh. My. Lanta. I honestly did not expect to LOVE. THIS. BOOK. SO. MUCH!!!!! I always enjoy Maren Moore's novels but this HAS to be my favorite of the bunch!

Hallie is fantastic. I love that she is true to herself, loves what she loves, and doesn't care if people say things like she's weird or quirky. She is truly happy with her life and I absolutely love that about her. We all need to be like Hallie!

And Lane? LANE?! That boy is the perfect boyfriend. He's what ever woman wants. I legit got mad at my boyfriend that he wasn't as attentive or sweet or considerate as Lane was being. It made me mad I didn't have my own Lane in my house. I cannot express how much I love this man and how amazing he is.

I freaking loved seeing Lane and Hallie together and it was the sweetest thing ever. I also LOVE that this wasn't the typical siblings-best-friend-romance where the sibling was super mad that his brother and best friend got together. Instead, Eli was like, do what you got to do but don't break her heart. He acted like an effort more than EVERY CHARACTER I've ever read in another book and he didn't force then to be apart of sneak behind his back. Bravo Maren Moore for showing me to love this trope for once!

This may be a book I have to own. The story was fantastic and the illustrated cover?? LOVE!!!!

I am so glad I got the chance to read this book and will DEFINITELY be telling everyone to read it!!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a very quick read that I really enjoyed! I haven't read the other books in the series yet to know if these two pop up at all, but I really enjoyed this introduction to this world.

Caly is way too nice of a person. I would have obliterated Sebastiano's sister and mother. That was six wasted years!

And I'm a bit annoyed Sebastiano waited so long to get Caly, not gonna lie.

But overall, i enjoyed this and glad I dived in to read it!

A Book A Day Presents Color Theory 3: Let Love Live! A Book A Day Presents Color Theory 3: Let Love Live! by Renita McKinney
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This review and rating is only for one short story in this anthology : Viewed Truths by A.M. Kusi.

Penelope and Carter are fantastic characters. Both have their own demons they are fighting who actually ended up being the same group of people. I loved their spicy introduction and how they connected almost instantaneously.

As all of my other experiences with A.M. Kusi novels, I was instantly sucked into the story and adored the characters. This could have nev a full length novel and I would have devoured it then too.

I love how both Penelope and Carter grew so much in this story and how they took the reins to make their own futures, rather than having someone else dictate their lives. Very much enjoyed this short story!

Review: The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros

The Last Letter The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Holy. Sad. I've read sad books but this may have topped my list. This book started off really really sad. By chapter 5 I was already crying. The ending? It was 100 times worse. I stayed this book crying and ended this book sobbing, no lie. I'm glad I read it, but I will never reread it again.

Ella. This woman. How can one person go through this much grief? Honestly it just keeps hitting her over and over. I couldn't have survived if I were in her shoes. I legit would not be as strong as she was. So I adore her wholeheartedly and just want to hold her hard right now.

Beckett is also an amazing person. What he's gone through, what he knowingly put himself in knowing how Ella will react when she finds out? So brave and selfless. I adore him. I get why Ella got mad but look at his actions, not the information he kept to himself.

Those kids? Havoc? Everything about this book was gutwrenchingly bittersweet. I always had one foot stable waiting for some horrible news but when it happened? I couldn't believe it. Just awful honestly.

So while I loved these characters, I can say with 100% certainty I will never read this book again because that is too much heartbreak for one family to go through. And too much sadness for me to revisit again.

Review: Muses & Melodies by Rebecca Yarros

Muses & Melodies Muses & Melodies by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It's been awhile since I've read a Rockstar romance and this novel brought me back to why I adore then so much!

I love how determined Zoe is to be the best assistant when keeping her eyes on Nixon. She had everything converted in how to make sure she is there no matter the issue, much to Nixon's dismay.

But when they get to Colorado? That's when the best part happens! And for it to set in Legacy? I'm so glad I read that series first to truly appreciate that town all over again!

I love Zoe. She risked her heart to make Nixon want to get healed fully. That's a sacrifice not a lot of people would make. And I'm glad Nixon had close friends like Quinn and Jason to make him see reason when he's stuck in his stubborn head.

This was a great, quick read that I devoured. It also shows just how talented Rebecca Yarros is in all of the different genres she can write and that I'm still over here wanting to consume more.

Review: The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros

The Things We Leave Unfinished The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rebecca Yarros is a wicked good writer. I usually don't enjoy 2 couples stories but this was done so beautifully I didn't mind at all switching from one setting to another.

The first characters is Scarlett and Jameson. These two are my favorite of the couples, not gonna lie. From the moment they met until the last page I was enchanted by their story and their reactions to each other. In a time so dark in their world, they found each other and knew what small chance they had to find it again. The way they clung to each other and loved each other was breathtaking. I loved everything about their story until the ending.

And that ending?? I was getting full body goosebumps, crying, shaking my head. We already knew it was a sad ending but when everything was revealed? I was blown away but all of it. I had this magical ending in my head and instead it was nothing like I was envisioning and I loved being so surprised by everything.

And then we have Scarlett and Jameson's great granddaughter Georgia and Noah's story. This was I also enjoyed too, especially because of how tough Georgia is and how determined Noah is. I loved their meeting in the bookstore and I love Noah's spontaneous decisions he makes. They have that same spark her great grandparents had and I loved seeing it in action.

And I loved seeing Georgia learn to trust again. Between her ex and her mother, she's not had a lot of people in her life that she can rely on. I honestly want to strangle her mother. She's a devious, selfish person who deserves all kinds of horrible things.

So yeah, safe to say, I'm obsessed with this book, all the feelings it gave me, and this author. I'm quickly getting all the feels through Rebecca's books and I'm loving every second of it. I can't wait to go on another emotional rollercoaster with another book up next!

Review: Forget Me Not by Julie Soto

Forget Me Not Forget Me Not by Julie Soto
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is probably one of the first books I've bought without read purely because I loved the cover (and I found a signed copy at my indie bookstore).  For the most part, I enjoyed this book, but if I had read it before buying a copy, I probably wouldn't have bought it.

My main issue was with Ama.  She's kind of a brat, honestly.  The way she treated Elliot throughout their whole fling was pretty awful, but Elliot was just stunned by her and took the treatment she gave him.  I get that she acted the way she did because of her mother and witnessing how she treats relationships, but I just didn't like Elliot being treated that way when he is such a sweetheart.  Grumpy and socially awkward, but a sweetheart none the less.

Elliot is what saved this book for me, honestly.  He's like me in the way that he doesn't want to be around people, but an inanimate object like flowers (books for me).  He has such a creative brain to create the wonderful things he does and he doesn't need to people.  But when he comes in contact with Ama, his brain short circuits and he's just memorized by her it seems.  Which is awesome, until she treats him like a stranger and he's been pining away for her.

Overall I'm glad I read it.  Wished I loved it a little bit more, but I did enjoy it and I loved a lot of the side characters.  Whitney and honestly Hazel I could have done without, along with Ama haha, but overall it was a decent story!

Review: Reason to Believe by Rebecca Yarros

Reason to Believe Reason to Believe by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This. Book.  I loved it so so much!  My favorite of the series so far, which is saying something because I don't normally like best-friends-sibling romances.  But honestly?  What won me over?  Liam and James.  Those two got my heartstrings and wouldn't let go from the moment we met them to the last page.  Liam's so protective over James and how he was taking care of him at 5 years old?  Like, I was so emotional about that aspect.  And I despise kids.  But book kids are so freaking amazing and these two have skyrocketed to the top of my favorites, no lie.

And then to see Harper and Knox fall for them even harder than I did?  I was so teary through most of this book when he came to those kids.

Harper and Knox.  I love them both, but why oh why did they both let Ryker dictate the last 7 years of their lives?  I don't care who Ryker is to either of them, if they want a future together, they should have damn well ignored Ryker's ridiculous opinion and told him to get over his own issues.  He was too protective of Harper when she didn't need him to be.  And he was honestly so cruel to Knox for not trusting him enough.  THIS is why I despise best-friends-sibling romances because they don't trust their hearts, but rather their minds on what their best friend is going to say.

However, Liam and James stole the show in this book for me, and how adorable the whole family was.  The ending was bittersweet, I'm so glad things worked out, but it definitely didn't go the way I was imagining and I was very sad about it haha.

I am loving reading all of Rebecca's books and can't wait to dive into the next one on my list!

Review: Ignite by Rebecca Yarros

Ignite Ignite by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

River and Avery are fantastic characters.  They both have been through so much, yet they are GOOD people.  I love that River will always want to be with Bishop.  Like they don't have to live with each other, but he has to live in the same town as him and work with him.  That sibling connection is hard to come by.  And his adoration toward Avery?  Swooon!  I love that he fell first, even though he kept it to himself for years.  This is the bane of my existence with friends-to-lovers because the amount of time they could have been together as a couple always blows my mind.

Avery is an amazing person.  Going through the abuse she is taking every day from her father is hard.  She was only focused on her sister Addy and not really looking at the big picture of what she could actually do to make things better, but Avery is a fighter.  I just wish she fought the right battle so she didn't struggle for so many years.  But that ending when everything clicked for her was probably my most favorite scene.

Loved these two characters and their story and can't wait to dive into the next couple's novel!

Review: Fall of Ruin and Wrath by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Fall of Ruin and Wrath Fall of Ruin and Wrath by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and NetGalley.  This is my honest review.

This first book in a new series by Jennifer L. Armentrout entrapped me from page one until the last page!  I honestly had no idea what it was about, but JLA is an auto buy, auto dive into her books without knowing a thing, because I always consume her books and love them immensely.  This was definitely no different!

Lis is such a different FMC than most of JLA's characters.  Her confidence in her abilities is fascinating to me because she is using them to make sure she can have a future that's comfortable.  She may not like everything about her surroundings, but she's learned the very hard way that life can be difficult and she's not about to give up her lifestyle anytime soon.  But she's also clever and smart and brave, which is exactly like JLA's FMC.

The MMC is so mysterious and intense.  We don't even learn of his name until WELL into the book, and I didn't even care.  Every time he was on the page with Lis, I was on pins and needles because the attraction between these two?!  Off the charts, kept me anticipating every action they both made.  Also, the spice in this book?  Extreme.  Like. E.X.T.R.E.M.E.  I was so surprised at 1. how much there was in book one, but also 2. how normal it flowed in the story.  It's like the lifestyle of this world has normalized it which was fascinating to me.

I also really liked when the MMC explained the history of their world.  It literally gave me goosebumps to envision what he was explaining and how devastating those events must have been.  It definitely put a different vibe into their current surroundings for me after that moment.

The ending?  THE ENDING??  It's a cliffhanger.  It's not a terrible cliffhanger.  But it of course left me wanting more and I didn't have more.  I need to know what happens next??  So much build up toward that moment only to be abruptly ended.  Rude.  But now I almost want to go back and re-read everything after having more details in my mind.

I adored this new debut series by JLA and I feel like her newer and older fans will dive into this book and not see daylight again until it's finished.  I loved every word and can't wait to see what is in store for these characters.

Review: The Love Plot by Samantha Young

The Love Plot The Love Plot by Samantha Young
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and NetGalley. This is my honest review.

As always, I devoured this Samantha Young novel and fell in love with her new characters, Star and Rafe. These two are so so different from each other and I absolutely loved seeing them be with each other.

Star's life style freaks me out, personally, but I love that she loves it. She's good at it. She THRIVES in it. And that makes me so happy for her. And to bring that uniqueness into Rafe's life was fantastic.

Rafe may have been backed into a corner when he came up with his idea, but I'm glad he got to experience the amazingness that is Star. And honestly things would have done so much another is Pippa could just keep her nose in her own problems instead of causing issues for others.

Also? I think Star would be a fantastic bookseller... just saying, as a career choice, she would be amazing at that.... ;)

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this story and I can't wait for more by Samantha Young!

Review: Take Me Now by J.H. Croix

Take Me Now Take Me Now by J.H. Croix
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing PR.  This is my honest review.

I always adore J. H. Croix's small town Alaskan stories, and I loved Farrah and Cooper's story!  They are both so broken at the beginning of this journey and very cynical when it comes to love, but they can't deny the attraction they immediately have with each other.  I also love how Humphry brought them together, though with a town as small as theirs, plus being neighbors, it was only a matter of time before they met and started their journey.

Cooper's ex is downright ridiculous and I'm glad she got what was coming for her.

Farrah's past is sad and I honestly don't blame her for wanting the future she envisioned before Cooper because living in that kind of a household really shapes your character in a different way.  I'm just glad she found Cooper and was able to be open about starting a future with him, warily as she was.

I also loved the friendships in this book, along with Farrah restarting a relationship with her mother.  Those were sweet moments.

I'm glad I got the chance to read this novel and continue the series!

Review: Twisted Hearts by Jagger Cole

Twisted Hearts Twisted Hearts by Jagger Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Valentine PR. This is my honest review.

I am stunned at how much I loved these characters. The amount of depth we go into for each of them and how we find our their true selves is fascinating. The author really gave us readers a book filled with character development!

Gavin has so much going inside of him about 1,000 different things, but yet is so calm and cool on the outside. But when you dangle Eilish in front of him, how control breaks so quickly and we see a sliver of who Gavan REALLY is. I absolutely loved it!

Elisha is the biggest surprise though because she is a fantastic actor on playing the good, sweet, almost naive girl. But she has so many secrets she's kept bottled inside. And when she's with Gavan everything is out in the open and she can finally explore the party of her she's kept locked in and really flourish!

Jagger Cole never fails to give a fantastic book full of twists, turns, spice, intensity. Everything that makes me devour his books in hours because I just can't get enough! So glad I inhaled this masterpiece and can't wait to see what will be next!

Review: Point of Origin by Rebecca Yarros

Point of Origin Point of Origin by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was quite an emotional storyline.  This town has been through so much and has risen up through all of their challenges, but always remembering what they went through.

Emerson is quite a spitball, I tell you.  She tells it like it is and is determined to support her town however she can.  And Bash is a bit of a coward, honestly, until he was finally presented with a future he just couldn't live without.  Everyone who went through that moment 10 years ago was able to find a way to acknowledge it and continue living their lives, but Bash was running for those last 10 years.  So I'm glad he finally found peace being in his town, but it definitely shouldn't have taken that long for him to make that move.

That mayor?  I definitely wanted him to be removed from his power because what he made those kids do?  I don't understand his reasoning, but I'm sure he will also be listed as the new coward of the town.  Despicable.

I'm excited to continue this series to see what else is going to happen to these characters I'm just starting to love!

Review: A Little Too Close by Rebecca Yarros

A Little Too Close A Little Too Close by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I adored this story.  I love how Weston basically melted when Sutton was around, and the intensity between him and Callie was off the charts.  Sutton is a little devil, honestly, and I can't imagine her in her teens haha.

I absolutely loved the best when Callie accepted all of Weston's choices.  How he was around his brother and father.  Callie understood wholeheartedly what he was feeling and not once made him feel that he had to act differently.  And West was always pushing Callie to do more for herself.  Their relationship was so adorable and they matched so well.

I'm glad I'm diving into Rebecca's other books and hope to continue my adventures so I will have read all of her books before too long!

Review: Love & Hockey by Monty Jay

Love & Hockey Love & Hockey by Monty Jay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Monty Jay is honestly one of my favorite authors. I can't get enough of her books and with this book, have now devoured them all. I'm so glad I got the chance to finally read this book that started it all.

Bishop and Valor went through so much in their lives. I can't imagine the depth of their emotions. Monty Jay did an amazing job making me feel every. Single. Feeling. These two went through. I felt the heartbreak, the love, the devastation. What that wasn't even the top of the iceberg of what they were constantly feeling.

The scene with Riggs? Honestly gutted me. Not only is that a devastating thing to go through, but Valor's reaction and emotional turmoil? It was so much to digest.

I cannot recommend Monty's books enough and am always trying to get my friends to read them. I know I will be rereading them again in my future because I can't stop thinking about these amazing stories.

Review: Burned Dreams by Neva Altaj

Burned Dreams Burned Dreams by Neva Altaj
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This story is wild. Much more convoluted and deeper than the previous books of Neva Altaj, in my opinion. Getting Az's story was amazing but also so heartbreaking. We've subverted about how past for awhile and now it is finally here.

Ravenna is a pure fighter. I know she is disappointed in herself, but she has adapted to her surroundings and has found many ways to survive, and that is the true definition of a fighter. Her brother needs to go rot away in a corner though because he's a nasty person who is so oblivious to what he did to his sister. Makes me sick.

Seeing Alessandro battle his inner turmoil about his mission was heartbreaking but also sweet because of his initial and continual reaction toward Ravenna. I loved being inside his head when she was involved.

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this novel and I'm excited to get the paperback to add to my collection when it's released!

Review: In the Likely Event by Rebecca Yarros

In the Likely Event In the Likely Event by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I've fallen down the Rebecca Yarros hole and got the chance to read this book early through Amazon prime.

I adore the connection between Izzy and Nathaniel. What they went through when they just met was insane and so lucky. But even before that traumatic event, they just clicked on a level that everyone wants with their forever person.

But the time they went through. 10 years. Some of those times with no contact? Some with chance meetings? That is a level I'll never understand. I'm not sure I would have the patience like that.

And honestly? Nathaniel could have left his job so many times and didn't and if I were Izzy, I world be so gutted and hurt every time I was picked last. Mind you she didn't airways wait around for him, but she never really got to live with him in her mind so the time. I just feel like Nate was so selfish and a coward.

With that being said, I did enjoy this book. It felt real like this could happen to people in real life. It was painful, beautiful, realistic and really makes people think what is important in their life. And how time can fly by without really living your life to its fullest.

Review: Hades' Game by R.G. Angel

Hades' Game Hades' Game by R.G. Angel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

R.G. Angel is becoming an author where I need all of her books! I loved this story of Cora and Ayaan. These two are so opposite that they are perfect for each other. One is so sweet while the other so manipulative. But they even reach other or and I adore watching them both grow the longer they are together.

I love all of the Hades and Persephone subjects and I especially love Cora making fun of it throughout the book. But her and Cerbie was fantastic!

I really enjoyed these characters and can see myself revisiting then again in the future!

Review: Overtime by Maggie Rawdon

Overtime Overtime by Maggie Rawdon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author.  This is my honest review.

I adore all things Maggie Rawdon writes because she just makes me love her characters so much.  Colton and Joss were amazing and I loved the chemistry between those two.  I loved the reverse age gap factor and I love how open they were to each other - well about certain things at least haha.  I also liked the fact that they were both married to their job which left little time for relationships, but they realized they they wanted to make it work with each other and that the job life was a bit less important by the end.  I think I love all of this because this is my current life and situation so I was able to relate to it a lot.

The amount of times Joss was surprised by this "new" Colton was fantastic and I enjoyed seeing this strong willed woman get thrown off of her feet a time or two haha.  Definitely made her rethink what she thought she knew, that's for sure.

I'm very glad I got the chance to read this book and cannot wait for the next novel by Maggie Rawdon!

Review: A Soul of Ash and Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout

A Soul of Ash and Blood A Soul of Ash and Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author.  This is my honest review.

I was so intrigued when JLA announced how she was going to write this book and how it was truly book 5 rather than 1.5.  And I was not disappointed in getting into Cas's head and seeing what he saw when he met Poppy.

The amount of emotional turmoil Cas went through when meeting Poppy was unimaginable.  I felt every feeling he was feeling and the conflict he was going through every day was agonizing.  He was able to hide most of his conflicting feelings toward Poppy, so the reader was unable to understand what debates he was constantly having in his head during book 1.  But now we will all know how horrible he felt with his decisions throughout the whole introduction of their meeting and his plan of attack that felt way too wrong by the end of it.

I adored being in Cas's mind and seeing the way he thought about how beautiful and strong Poppy was?  Breathtaking, honestly.  It makes me want to go out and find my own Cas and nothing less haha.

I loved the little bits of the present storyline that were also in this novel.  JLA was able to weave the reader in a very neat story to go back and forth like that and keep the reader wanting more of the past but also just as much for the present story.  I maybe would have wanted a little bit more of the present storyline, but I will just have to wait for the next Poppy & Cas novel to come out to really get what I was wanting.

Also?  That ending?  I'm not surprised, but man did I want more of the jaw dropping events that happened.  So much and yet, not enough.  Definitely need to see how this ends, because that left me salivating for more!

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this and I cannot wait for all of my physical copies to come in and join my shrine of JLA books.  I think readers will be very happy with this newest novel and will be like me, left wanting more and more!

Review: Sinful Hearts by Jagger Cole

Sinful Hearts: A Dark Mafia Enemies To Lovers Romance Sinful Hearts: A Dark Mafia Enemies To Lovers Romance by Jagger Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Valentine PR. This is my honest review.

Once again, Jagger Cole knocked it out of the park with how addictive this story was. I've always been curious about Hades story and boy was it messed up. And then to pair him with Elsa was so intriguing and honestly fun to watch. These two couldn't be more opposite from each other. But Elsa has A LOT of secrets and I loved seeing them all come to the light the farther along you read.

This book had a lot of twists and turns that I honestly didn't see coming at all, so I really enjoyed those surprises!

I'm already missing these characters and know one day in my future I will be rereading Jagger Cole's books again to visit these amazing stories again.

Review: Dare To Fall by J.H. Croix

Dare To Fall Dare To Fall by J.H. Croix
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

I always enjoy visiting this small town in Alaska and falling in love with even more characters when I get sucked into their lives. Blake and Fiona were just another couple added to my love for this series.

Blake really surprised me with his quick feelings toward Fiona. I'm not sure why I was surprised, but it was refreshing for me.

And Fiona. This woman has been their so much in her life and the love she had for her family and the dedication she had to give them a wonderful life. It's very admirable! She's also very smart and conscious about this little town she is making her new home.

I really enjoyed this story and I'm glad I got the chance to read it!

Review: Corrupting the Innocent by P. Rayne

Corrupting the Innocent Corrupting the Innocent by P. Rayne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Valentine PR. This is my honest review.

I cannot put into words how much I am loving the darker works of P. Rayne. Don't get me wrong, the contemporary novels are wonderful too, but I'm just vibing this series so hard right now!

Antonio and Sofia are about a polar opposite from Mira and Marcelo as you can get, but that didn't stop me from loving them just as much. Well, almost as much. Siblings best friend and secret relationships aren't my strong suit so I became more annoyed than book 1, but the moments they weren't hiding in front of an audience I loved.

As book 1, there was romance, tension, mystery, intrigued, betrayal, the whole 9 yards wrapped up into one great novel.

I also loved seeing Antonio losing his composure over and over when it came to Sofia. A man known for his rules and structure absolutely coming apart at the seams - what more could you ask for?

I'm so glad I got to read this novel and I CANNOT WAIT for the next book. I've been intrigued by Gabriel since book 1 and I'm so ready to see this man fall, while doing nerdy things on his computer lol.

Review: Rule Number Five by Jessa Wilder

Rule Number Five Rule Number Five by Jessa Wilder
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I read a short teaser excerpt on Facebook at the hockey game and the jersey mishap, and I had the need to read this book because of that alone, so I dived into it from there.

For the most part, I enjoyed this book. I wish Sidney didn't fight their attraction for so long. Reading about characters who let circumstances dictate their life choices always gets to be a bit much for me. And even though EVERYONE can clearly see her and Jax click on a level many can only dream of, I know she had her reasons, but judging someone's choices in a sport because of ONE person in your life is wrong to me. Now if she had multiple people in her life with the same issue, yes. But one person? Give the man a shot. He proved himself over and over and over again with all of his actions on how consumed he was with Sidney.

For the moments she decided to cave into temptation, those were amazing moments. You can really feel the chemistry between these two and I loved it so much. The moments where she had reasons to avoid Jax and the amazing moments, I got annoyed.

So overall I enjoyed this story. I especially loved how Jax fell for her instantaneously and never gave up hope. That was fantastic!

Review: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

Fourth Wing Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

May 28th review:
I legit just did a reread of this book 20 days later. I almost NEVER reread a book but to cave into temptation in 20 days?  I have so many other things to read, but instead I'm reading a book that I can't help but devour.

I'm glad I did the reread because I caught many things that I either missed or I caught new things based on my knowledge of how evening pans out.  I still laughed, gasped, cried over certain scenes even though I knew they were coming.

Like everyone else, I can't wait until November and honestly wonder how many more rereads I'm going to do before then.

READ THIS BOOK! It's amazing!

May 8th review:
I saw the hype for this book everywhere and I saw MANY of my all time, auto buy authors RAVING about this story. So my expectations were set at an all time high.

I was 1,000% not disappointed!!  I legit read this book in 12 hours. In one day I started and finished this book, and while I consumed it, I knew I was going to be devastated when I finished. Well, here I am devastated but also extremely happy.

Also?  THERE WILL BE SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW. For once I didn't read an early copy so I can say whatever I want and I'm oh so going to lol.

Violet. VIOLET! I need to be her friend. She is fantastic person. So super smart, I love that she wanted to be a scribe and be surrounded by books. And her ability to retain information is amazing! Makes her the dangerous student in her school. And her the brilliant plan she came up with for each of her sparring sessions made me jump up and down with joy.

Xaden. I loved him the second he learned Violets name and threatened her life. The tension between them was instantaneous and it was always sizzling between them with every encounter. For them to have waited so long to cave in to their attraction was agonizing but so worth it. Though he's really put himself into a deep hole by the end of this book. I'm really really going to enjoy seeing him pull out all the bells and whistles to gain Violets trust again. I know it's going to be even more intense I bet.

I honestly despise her mother. I cannot believe she is willing to risk another child, especially considering Violet had only been training for 6 months. All because of their name and image. I would have had a few choice words for her.  And then later when Violet proved herself to her mother's standards? AND HER MOTHER IGNORED HER??? Hell no. No. No. No.

Another person I hate? Dain. That spineless weasel, I can't stand him. I need to be Violets friend so I can punch him and break his nose,  I swear. He's only out for himself. One minute he's lecturing Violet, telling her what to do, acting like she's not 20 years old, the next he's celebrating the exact thing he was scolding her about and acting like he was responsible for it. Just because he realized that he can be associated with her and her some fame from it or something. And his "the rules say...." oh just shove it, Dain.

The amount of people after Violet in this book
is insane and that girl has so much luck on her side.

Also? I loved how many people died in this book. Do not get attached to many of these characters because they drop like flies.

The dragons. THE DRAGONS!!! I freaking love them. Every single second a dragon is on these pages I'm in love. Especially Tarin - he's hilarious and I love his and Violets banter!

The revolution happening is going to get crazy in the upcoming books. I'm not the biggest fan of those but I'll suffer through it to continue loving these characters.

Now, the biggest spoiler because I need to remember for book 2. So, you know, don't read of you don't want spoilers...

I CAN'T BELIEVE BRENNAN IS STILL ALIVE!!!!!!!  How did he fake his death with his mother?? Does she know? Is her mother in the dark? How mad is Violet going to be?? Her father died from his death basically and Violet loved her father. Also? This is not going to go well with Xaden keeping this from her and HE BETTER TELL HER EVERY FREAKING SECRET IN HIS LIFE!!!!! If he messed up what they have forever and she moves on to someone else I'll never forgive him.

So suffice to say, this book has me obsessed and I'm about to own 4 copies - at least! The hype is worth it. I'm telling everyone to read it. And I can't wait for more!

Review: Protected Love by Vikki Jay

Protected Love Protected Love by Vikki Jay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Greys Promotions. This is my honest review.

Vikki Jay is an automatic one click buy author for me. I consume her books the second they are available and fall in love with all of her characters. Gavin and Minnie have now been added to that group.

I absolutely fell in love with these two in the previous book, with Gavin being all protective and grumpy. And Minnie being so shy and quite. But boy do we really get to know the real Gavin and Minnie is their book! They are so much more than what was shown prior and I loved finding out more and more about both of them!

I love Gavin's reaction to Minnie's singing. It's so pure and reactive and real. Warms my heart every time! And Minnie feeling so safe around Gavin? All of this makes me swoon to no end.

I'm also glad I saw the cover before reading this story because it gave me such a great image of Gavin - the model is spot on to the description in the book. I usually will just imagine whatever works for me, but not this time. And I'm not mad about it, at all.

I loved seeing these two fall for each other - I especially loved the parts where they were in the safe house. Definitely my favorite part!

Definitely recommend this book, this series, and this author. I've read her since book 1 and I will continue to read everything to come because I'm obsessed. And I cannot wait for the next couple story! Eek!

Review: The Blood Traitor by Lynette Noni

The Blood Traitor The Blood Traitor by Lynette Noni
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This series.  It was certainly a ride for me, but I honestly think this book, #3, hit it out of the park.  We weren't getting 5 million twists and turns (though there are some still in here, don't you worry) and Kiva was, for the most part, kept up to date with the information so she wasn't stuck in the dark where she's been placed for this whole trilogy.

Her and Jaren?  I had so many mixed, roller coaster of emotions that I went through, I'm a bit mentally drained from it, not gonna lie.  I get where he was coming from, but he SAW how much it was destroying Kiva.  And for him to say some of those things to her?  When she literally shut down before meeting the psychic, I was honestly so worried for her.  And you can tell Jaren knew he went too far, but once you put someone down like that, getting their true self back is really hard to do.  I'm glad they were able to finally talk like they should have, but it was way too late for that conversation and to really understand where the other person was coming from.

Tipp, Cresta, Caldon?  Gosh, I love those three so much.  Cresta was a surprise since she was such a nasty person in book 1.  But for her to help Kiva tremendously through her issues back in the prison, that's what really stuck with me.  And then she just never left and her crude humor was fantastic for me.

Tipp?  When he finally forgave Kiva after the Spartan-like battle?  I legit almost sobbed - there were definitely tears in my past over that.  Gosh, I get so attached to these characters.

So while this series as a whole was harder for me, I'm glad I got through it all and got to the end because it was pretty amazing wrapped up as a whole.  I'm definitely a Medoran Chronicles girl through and through, but now I can know what other people are raving about when they talk about the Prison Healer series.

Review: The Gilded Cage by Lynette Noni

The Gilded Cage The Gilded Cage by Lynette Noni
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I... this series is hard for me, I'm coming to find out. I think that Lynette Noni is a brilliant writer who has weaved a magical, mysterious world in this series, but boy are there just a bit too many twists and turns. It seems to be Neverending and it's not all staying straight in my head, even though I'm actually reading these books pretty slowly.

Kiva is learning who she is more and more through this book, but she's so far in the dark with her family she's back in the Abyss. Is not fair to put a girl in the middle of a war when she was trapped in a prison for more than half her life.

I will say, her telling her siblings the secrets to overthrow the throne? Bad move Kiva. I don't care what she thought, don't tell the rebel leaders the secret, no matter how "impossible" it seems to be.

Her sister is a piece of work. I hope she's sent to the prison she feared as a child for the rest of her life.

Jaren? His magic? I feel like there's a way to fix this, but fixing his trust in Kiva will be next to impossible. Especially how Kiva's sister made everything sound.

I'm very glad I'm reading this series back to back rather than having to wait for a new release. Cause as curious as I am on how things get fixed, I'm losing steam quickly. BUT, off to book 3 to I'm sure a happily ever after, with another billion twists and turns in the process.
