She's With Me by Ava Violet
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I received this free eARC novel from Edelweiss. This is my honest review.
There was so much mystery and intrigue in this novel! The reader was kept guessing until the mystery was revealed, and there was a lot of drama and events that happened in this book. At first, I really enjoyed the story and was already trying to find a way to get my hands on the second novel, but the farther I got into the novel, the more I just lost interest, sadly.
There is just TOO MUCH drama going on. Amelia is having a crappy last year - I get that - but not one girl can get the crappy end of the stick like she's been having. She gets assaulted, beat up, and much more within the short time she's at her new school. She makes an automatic enemy because a boy is talking to her - mind you she's not showing any interest, he is. But the girl crushing on Aiden threatens her even so, thinking that Amelia must be doing something. That's just too much going on right there. Then you get the rival school with the boys who hate her new friends, and they start torturing Amelia. Why the new girl? Why not someone who is more vested into the group of friends?
Then we figure out why Amelia is so skittish, and that's just messed up. How was it her fault? Why is the person trying to kill her when Amelia was just as much of a victim of that event as the person was? Obviously there is some mental issues going on, but yikes. And then the end - I mean, how can they even jump to that conclusion? And of course there is a cliffhanger, so if you don't want a multiple book commitment, you may want to stay clear. I thought I would read the second novel since I found it on Wattpad, but I think I'm going to skip it, sadly. I just can't handle with Amelia's life - she's got a lot of issues for a 17 year old girl.
I'm glad I got a chance to read this, though, and I can see that many many other readers have loved this book. Sadly it just wasn't for me this time.
