Review: Towerwood by Kate Callaghan

Towerwood Towerwood by Kate Callaghan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author.  This is my honest review.

I so wish there was more to this story!  Zel was treated like crap by so many people.  She was trying to save her mother and she was treated like vermin by the end of this story.  I especially wish she would have made different choices at the end because her family needed to feel responsible for what they did.  Instead, Zel was a better person than I am and decided not to punish them.  Even after all those years...I don't know how she is still an amazing person after what she went through.

Also?  I wish there was a better ending with her and Prince.  I'm definitely a romantic at heart, so that ending left me feeling hollow a bit haha.

I'm glad I read this very unique version of this fairytale and I'm looking forward to more by this author!

Review: Prince of Hate by Jagger Cole

Prince of Hate Prince of Hate by Jagger Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Once again, I devoured this Jagger Cole book from start to finish, completely consumed by this world and these characters. And this is the first retelling of his that actually reminded of the true story throughout the novel. Definitely not a bad thing, but just something I noticed.

Rose is so naive when it comes to her father. That whole situation was frustrating, cause you could just see that she wanted her father's love. She trusted everything he said which was heartbreaking to witness.

Oliver. Oh Oliver. You have been through so much and to see him suffer for multiple reasons was gutwrenching. I'm glad he got Rose in his life when he did cause he needed another reason to keep fighting and she showed up in the nick of time.

I love the interconnected storyline that Jagger Cole seems to do so effortlessly! Seeing past chargers come back, reading about the confusing connections that have happened in past books was quite remarkable!

I loved this book so much and I'm already waiting to get my hands on the two paperbacks to add to my ever growing collection! A must read!

Review: Beautifully Scarred by P. Rayne

Beautifully Scarred Beautifully Scarred by P. Rayne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Valentine PR. This is my honest review.

This was an emotional book. Lilah and Jimmy are souls just trying to get to their happily ever afters. Though, I gotta say, Lilah was so hard to like in part one of this book. I was struggling so hard to understand her choices, and I know her past was haunting her, but I just wanted her to want to get help. I wanted her to try for Jimmy. Because Jimmy bent over backwards for Lilah. I just wanted her to do the same for him.

But part two Lilah? I loved her so much. Seriously, a complete 360 change, all thanks to the new person on her life. To see her fight her way to the life she always wanted was amazing and really emotional, honestly.

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this novel and I'm definitely looking forward to more by this author in the future!

Review: Personal Foul by Maggie Rawdon

Personal Foul Personal Foul by Maggie Rawdon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Wildfire Marketing Solutions.  This is my honest review.

I. Love. East. And. Wren.  Seriously, I didn't think I would love their story the most, but boy was I wrong.  I loved their bantering and "fighting" and I loved how well they just clicked with each other.  I love how strong Wren is and how she's single handily taking care of her gramps bar while being a full time student and everything else she has on her plate.  And I love love love East's determination when he finally discovered the amazing of Wren and how much he needs to be around her.  This boy is FOCUSED on her and anything to help her.  I need an Easton to come swoop me off of my feet!

I love how timid East was too.  He really really didn't want to mess up with Wren and what was starting to become a great thing in his relationship.

I am so glad there wasn't a bout of anger and tantrums and misunderstandings in this novel.  Don't get me wrong, I like the groveling, but this was just a more mature way of starting a relationship and treading water between the characters.

I honestly have nothing negative to say about this story, which is odd cause one thing or another always gets on my nerves.  I honestly to goodness loved every second of this story and I am obsessed with these two characters.  Maggie Rawdon is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine and I may just have to squeeze her books on my cramped shelves and start my physical book obsession haha.  Can't wait for Ben's story next!

Review: Soulless Saint by Elena Lawson

Soulless Saint Soulless Saint by Elena Lawson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

I've been waiting for Becca's book since the previous series, and I was not disappointed. There was so much amazingness that happened and I read this in one sitting. I couldn't get enough of this wild ride!

I love how Becca is sticking it to her dad and she's making her new love work. I love how she basically demanded a job and it actually worked. I also love her roommates to pieces.

The Saint brothers are swoony, as one would expect. I am Team Hardin, though I'm not sure there are teams here honestly. But Hardin is my favorite. Though the man barely talks, but his actions are screening so very loudly. I'm sure Kaleb will grow on me more, especially the longer he's around Becca because he's more focused when she's around.

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this novel and I'm very excited to see what happens next after that ending in this book. So many twists and turns are about to go down I feel!

Review: Madison Avenue Mediator by Nicole Sanchez

Madison Avenue Mediator Madison Avenue Mediator by Nicole Sanchez
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Wow. By far my favorite novel from Nicole Sanchez so far! I absolutely loved this story and these characters. Ainsley is an amazing, string female character who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to tell everyone what that is.

I love the unusual way she and Ken met. But what I REALLY love is the instant connection they had with each other. Sanchez wrote this impeccably, to the point I could feel every zing and emotion they felt throughout their encounters. Their attraction was off the charts and I loved every second of it.

The only thing that was a bit aggravating was their lack of communication. For being a mediator, Ainsley did a poor job expressing herself with words and having must have conversations right away.

I loved this story so much and I'm so glad I got the chance to read this book! As always, I'm looking forward to more by this author!

Review: All It Takes by J.H. Croix

All It Takes All It Takes by J.H. Croix
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

I loved this storyline and how Wes and Tiffany joined forces to help Ross. They were put in a situation that steamed from a terrible accident, but they knew Ross needed them and they were willing to do anything to help him.

I did think Tiffany's CONTINUED hesitation about being with Wes was a bit much. We can all see Wes is an amazing guy, and I get she had trust issues, but with everyone cheering them on, I just wanted her to take a leap of faith.

I love this series and this little community J.H. Croix had created and I always look forward to each characters story!

Review: Send Me Their Souls by Sara Wolf

Send Me Their Souls Send Me Their Souls by Sara Wolf
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

This book took forever to get through. I thought it dragged so much and I almost gave up before I got to the end. I thought the ending would be better than what it ended up being, so now I'm mad that I didn't just stop.

Zera's sacrifice was the shortest thing in history. I thought there would be.... just more. There wasn't. And then when she just popped back into Lucien's life? No explanation on what happened or where she had been? Nah, that was definitely a waste of my time.

This was an interesting series. I don't reread or again, but it was different and for the most part kept my attention. I'm glad I finally got around to reading it and now I'm glad I don't be forever intrigued with this synopsis storyline.

Review: Find Me Their Bones by Sara Wolf

Find Me Their Bones Find Me Their Bones by Sara Wolf
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

Well, this story picked up and kept me intrigued in book 2. Zera found herself with a new Witch, one who wasn't shy to command her to do things against her will. And seeing her and Lucien as enemies was really sad. I loved those two together and to see their relationship strained was a bitter pill to swallow.

But also Lucien being mad at her for being a Heartless and deceiving him? It's not like she really has a choice right? And she made the hard decision to NOT kill him and save him at the end of book 1, so I was a little annoyed with him.

And then him beginning a witch? With a pretty deceiving power of his own? That was a shock I didn't see coming.

I do think I'd Zera would have asked Lucien if he would give her her heart right away, she could have switched witches and have been free, but noooo she can't ask the right questions when she needs to.

So now I'm committed to seeing how this ends cause so many things can happen and I must know. Must.

Review: Bring Me Their Hearts by Sara Wolf

Bring Me Their Hearts Bring Me Their Hearts by Sara Wolf
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I've been studying on this book for years and finally got around to it. For the most part, I enjoyed it. I just thought it was a bit slow going. 2 weeks have passed but it felt like months for how slow evening went.

Zera is in such a predicament in this book. Lucien definitely makes it hard for her the most she learns about him, and even for a girl without a heart, its hard not to fall for Lucien.

I love the ending when Zera massacres all of those people but I know that will haunt her for the rest of her life. And Varia popping up? Love it. Definitely is going to have me diving into book 2 to see what happens next!

Review: Cursed by Marissa Meyer

Cursed Cursed by Marissa Meyer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

I feel conflicted about this book. In the one hand I enjoyed it. Serilda's journey went in entry direction and the storytelling that was involved was top notch. On the other hand, I feel like this was way too long for what was needed. I found myself skimming parts cause I was losing interest fast.

I love Serilda's determination in this book. Even though she had many reasons to, she never gave up. She believed there was a way to win and wouldn't take another outcome.

So, yeah, I'm glad I finished this series finally. Still adore Marissa Meyer but I feel like this sequel was a bit too much extra than it needed to be.

Review: The Boundless by Anna Bright

The Boundless The Boundless by Anna Bright
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Edelweiss.  This is my honest review.

This book started a bit rocky for me because I was willing to overlook Selah's "I fall in love so easily" in book 1 since... well she was out being courted by suitors so of course she was bound to get some feelings.  Especially since she's only been interested in 1 guy her whole 18 years and she's being pursued with Bear and Torden.  But when she started catching feelings for Lang?  That's when I'm like, girl, you can't be in love with 3 guys who are all completely different.  Pick a guy and stick with it, stop being flighty.  So when that was going down, I was not impressed by this book at all.

Thankfully she straightened up and finally realized what she wanted for her future - WHO she wanted for her future.  And in my opinion, she picked correctly.  Lang is a jerk, plain and simple.  She said it well when she told him she wanted the person she loved to love her first.  Lang wasn't in love with anything, I honestly think he was just surviving hour by hour and not thinking about what he really wanted in life.  Bear was so long ago, a distant memory honestly.  Plus it looks like he's doing just fine without Selah around haha.  But Torden.  What they had was magical and they just clicked right away.  So, yes, she picked my Team and I'm very happy!

I thought it was very interesting storyline of Selah "defeating" Baba Yaga.  That whole world was messed up and every chapter revealed something I didn't think I needed to know.  But I'm glad that Selah wasn't the one to "take her down" because that's not the person she is.  She just came up with a plan that followed through for that I approve.  If she were to kill them or whanot, I would not have been a fan since that was not the person Selah is.

When Selah got home and she PUT DOWN Alessandra?  Loved!  Probably my favorite part.  She OWNED being the elect in charge and she demanded her voice to be heard in a professional way, and I loved that part so much.

I'm glad I decided to stick it through these two books and that I finally got around to reading them!

Review: The Beholder by Anna Bright

The Beholder The Beholder by Anna Bright
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I really thought it was going to be a dud, but I was flying through the story. I'm sore some people think nothing happened in this book and they would be somewhat right, but I think this was a journey of Selah finding and understand herself. She's lived her life for one prose and her stepmother ruined that for her. But every since she was in this journey, she's become more independent and decisive about what SHE wants to do.

I totally called it with the first Prince, really early on actually. And I knew Selah would feel betrayed and embarrassed, because I would have too. So i would have done exactly what she did.

The second prince, I also predicted that ending. Well not exactly, but I knew the distance would pose a problem, no matter what Selah thought.

I think if she continues with these princes, she needs to be upfront and honest with them, cause the miscommunication, or the LACK of communication is getting annoying. But it looks like this book may be going into a different storyline now, so I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens.

Review: Menagerie by Rachel Vincent

Menagerie Menagerie by Rachel Vincent
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

I adore Rachel Vincent and have read most of her novels at this point I believe? And I've been dragging my feet on this series. So i finally decided to dive into it and... it just didn't work for me. I tried so hard but I kept avoiding this book because I just wasn't really interested in these characters. The storyline was intriguing but there are also 2 storylines going on, which was a bit related I suppose.

I also didn't connect with any of the characters that well, which also meant I just didn't really care what happened to them. Harsh but true. I felt bad for Delilah and what she went through. She didn't deserve any of that. And Gallagher was just weird to me. And it got weirder the longer the story went on.

I guess I felt a bit disconnected from everything. I was just interested to keep me coming back but not interested enough to stick with it when I picked it up.

Then i went to find spoilers for book 3 and I'm glad I won't be continuing this series cause if I had stuck it out through so 3 to get that ending? I would have been livid.

So I'm glad I finally read this story finally but I'm sad I didn't love it more since I really do love this author.

Review: Long Live the Elf Queen by JM Kearl

Long Live the Elf Queen Long Live the Elf Queen by J.M. Kearl
My rating: 0 of 5 stars

I so so wish this series was complete because I need to know what happens next and now I have to wait.

There are so many twists and turns in this series. Just when you think you know what will happen, you really really don't. And i loved every time that happened cause I was just consuming this book, needing to know more and more.

I am loving seeing Layala grow into this untapped power that frankly no one knows about at this point. Especially herself. But that isn't stopping her from trying to figure out out.

Thane is great and I loved that we got even more viewpoint chapters from him. Though with that ending? I'm very intrigued to see what happens next!

So, yes, this was a great, unexpected series that I didn't think I would love, but here I am. I know I will be thinking about these characters and this story for days to come and I'm hoping book 3 will get here soon. Glad i decided to leap into this series!

Review: Bow Before the Elf Queen by JM Kearl

Bow Before the Elf Queen Bow Before the Elf Queen by J.M. Kearl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I decided to dive into this book because Bookish Box is doing a special edition of our and I wanted to see if I wanted to keep it or not. The answer: yes, I'm keeping it! (Unless they destroy the cover arr, then maybe not...)

I was reading through some Goodreads reviews about it being bland and a mash up of other popular fantasy books. I really didn't think it was bland. I loved being able to go into 2 characters viewpoints. I loved seeing the characters develop. And I read this very quickly, for it being a 500+ page book. I just went to get book 2 on Amazon actually. And i don't read a lot of fantasy novels, so I guess I'm lucky that I have nothing to compare it to.

Layala is a fantastic character. She's strong willed, determined, and independent and I love those things about her. But the longer she figures out the truth, the more her personality shifts into other characteristics. And the emotional turmoil she goes through with her feelings towards Thane are remarkable.

Thane is amazing. Seriously, he's my favorite. He is so determined to save his people not also change Layala's mind about him and his world. And he does many of it slyly that Layala doesn't write know what he is doing.

I totally called the traitor. I don't know how or why, there was no aha moment, but I knew it was coming.

So, yes, off to book 2 cause I need to know what happens next. Though i know book 2 has a cliffhanger too so that will also be brutal when I get to the end.
