My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.
Chloe and Braxton are two very similar people. They both are competitive, especially with each other, and very stubborn. Neither one of them wants to tell the other person what they are really feeling, which means they miss out on a lot of time they could have been together.
I think that the downside of this book - I wish they would have found a way to communicate better with each other. There was a lot of miscommunication, a lot of things said in the wrong way because they were both stewing about WHAT to say, and it was just blurted out.
I loved that they both finally got to do what they wanted to do with their lives, but I was very frustrated with Chloe for letting her father basically bully her into working for his company, rather than what she wanted to actually do. Braxton tried to tell her that, but did it in a very terrible way that made her mad, and they didn't talk for a few years after that.
I'm glad that Braxton decided to do something about his anger. I'm not sure why he was so angry like that, to be honest. Maybe I missed something in the narrative that explained his rage at things. Though to be fair, he only got really angry and started fighting for legit things, in my mind. I get that Chloe has an issue with anger and lashing out, but it wasn't like it was getting mad about silly things.
Chloe's mom and her dog and Braxton's situation was hilarious, I have to admit. Though I would be just as livid as Braxton was if my neighbor's dog was doing what her dog was doing, so I don't blame him one bit. It was just funny seeing them clash so much.
I'm glad I got a chance to read this eARC novel of this book and I'm excited to read more in the future by Beverly Evans!
