Review: Bastard by J. L. Perry

Bastard Bastard by J.L. Perry
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley.  This is my honest review.

I honestly went into this story thinking these characters were going to meet in their 20's or so, but the actually meet when they are in high school!  Definitely wasn't expecting that, but I wasn't mad at the additional background of how they met and how they reacted toward each other.

I really love Indiana in this story - she's so sweet and naive, but strong and determined all in one little package.  And Carter was sure to remind her of her size every time he called her "kid".  Carter was a brooding, moody, stubborn 17 year old.  He really let that one moment bury itself inside of him and really shaped him into the person he was becoming.  What little things in life that have such a huge meaning - this is a prime example of that.

I loved the moments when they were able to act on their feelings and not think of "what if" afterward.  It didn't happen that often in this book, but when it did I loved ever second of it.

There is a lot that happens in this book, and while I appreciated the information, I feel that it could have been shortened just a little bit.

Otherwise I enjoyed this story and I'm glad I finally got around to reading it!

Review: Be With Me by Samantha Young

Be With Me Be With Me by Samantha Young
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author.  This is my honest review.

I absolutely loved Eredine - she is such a strong woman who is determined to live her life to the fullest even with the past she had to go through to get to where she is today.  I have adored seeing her in past novels connect with the Adair family members, but to have her own story was fantastic!  And I love her friendship, her connect with Arran.  Ery was so different with him out of the other Adairs because he didn't treat her like she was fragile.

Arran was a surprise because he wasn't in this storyline from the beginning, so to see his personality, his drive and ambition was amazing.  I love how he tread the line oh so carefully with Ery, but really just treated her like anyone else he was attracted to.  The family dynamic with his brothers was so sweet and seeing them reconnect again was great.

I loved the mystery that came in this storyline.  I was able to figure it out early on, but was pleasantly surprised to see that I was right in my guessing!

I'm very excited to see what happens in Brodan's story next and I'm so glad I got the chance to read this story!  Samantha Young once again created another great masterpiece and I'm already excited for more to come!

Review: Unloved by Katy Regnery

Unloved Unloved by Katy Regnery
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Edelweiss.  This is my honest review.

I am blown away by this book!  I thought going in I knew what was going to happen, but the author kept me on my toes the whole time with twists and turns and mysteries being revealed and I really didn't see any of it coming.  And that's saying something cause I can usually predict them early on.

I adore Cassidy.  He's had a really hard life growing up and to be alone for most of his life?  I always joke that I want to stay home and away from people, but I don't know if I really could be completely isolated like he was on his mountain.  But his lifestyle suited him, for the most part, until he met Brynn.  Then he started to dream about more, but knowing his genetics did not allow that to happen and it really sent him on a rollercoaster of feelings.

Brynn loves hard.  With her past with Jem and now with Cassidy, she just FEELS everything and shows it on her sleeve for the world to see.  I loved seeing her take charge with her feelings toward Cassidy, even though she has never done that in the past.  Both Brynn and Cassidy experienced so many new things when they were together, it was so refreshing and nice to see it.

I really enjoyed this book and I'm so glad I finally got around to reading this book - wish I would have read it in 2017 when I first got it!

Review: Keep Me Close by J.H. Croix

Keep Me Close Keep Me Close by J.H. Croix
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

I have been living this series and I'm really glad I got this next installment. I love how untraditional Chase and Hallie met.  I also thought it was interesting that both characters both characters were still thinking about the other one  But weren't going to try to find each other it's to find the other.. If I was one of them, I'd risk it to see what could have happened.

Thankfully they did need to reconnect and I'm so happy they did! These two are really cute together and seeing them get to know each other was adorable.

I do think Chase should go talk to someone about his feelings toward his mother. It's making him judge and question every little thing around him and he needs to learn to move past it in order to live his life to the fullest.

I'm really glad I got the chance to read this book and I'm looking forward to the next one!

Review: Court of the Vampire Queen by Katee Robert

Court of the Vampire Queen Court of the Vampire Queen by Katee Robert
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

This is my first Katee Robert novel and boy was I not ready for the intensity that happens with these characters! Right from the beginning to the very end, so many spicy scenes.

I actually adore the characters we meet here. Mina had a really crappy life growing up, but when she was given as a "gift" that didn't stop her from fighting back, ended though she knew it would do no good. And the guys? Wolf, Rylan, and Malachi? They each have their own issues to deal with as well but they get through it to survive another day.

I am very, VERY intrigued by Grace and what her story is, and after that small preview at the end, I'm hoping that's the next story cause I would love that!

I'm very glad I finally tried a Katee Robert novel and I will definitely be diving into another one of stories in the future!

Review: A Book A Day Presents: Color Theory 2: Love, The Tie That Binds by Renita McKinney (A. M. Kusi)

A Book A Day Presents: Color Theory 2: Love, The Tie That Binds A Book A Day Presents: Color Theory 2: Love, The Tie That Binds by Renita McKinney
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from one of the authors. This is my honest review.

I've read one book so far in this anthology and I absolutely loved it! Under My Skin by A.M. Kusi is just as fantastic as every other book they have written, and of course it left me wanting more for these characters. That's par for the course for me though!

Roy is such an interesting person and I would have loved to get into his mind and see more of his past to see how he had become the man he is now.

And Tessa is such a strong woman, who has gone through an emotional past. It was hard seeing such a strong person be so self conscious of herself because of how her ex treated her.  Seeing Roy treat her how she should it was so fantastic and just really showed how amazing people can be.

Eventually I plan to read the rest of the books in this anthology. Anthologies are hard are hard for me to binge through because I always connect with the characters and transitioning to another storyline is a bit rough. I know that I will love all of the other stories though and can't wait to read all of them!

Review: The Final Score by Maren Moore

The Final Score The Final Score by Maren Moore
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This was such a great ending to Graham and Emery's story! So so many tears were shed from me (and the characters) and I went through so many emotions.

I loved seeing both of these characters make some huge, life changing decisions, and being happy with those changes. This really shows that happiness and ambitions can change in a single instance and that made it very real for me.

I really enjoyed this book and seeing these characters again. I'm excited for the next one already!

Review: Empire of Ash by Jagger Cole

Empire of Ash Empire of Ash by Jagger Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author.  This is my honest review.

I am so so glad I got to dive right into this book after the ending of book 1.  And let me tell you, SO MUCH happened in these two books, my mind is still reeling from all of it. I loved seeing Ella and Noel grow so much throughout this storyline, and seeing their trust grow more and more?  Swoon!  Plus the spice is off the charts!  I had to put the book aside a few times haha.

Also?  I KNEW IT!!!!  I totally called who it was and I figured it out so early!!  And whenever that person was mentioned or Elle/Noel were around that person I was like NOO!!  That was an emotional rollercoaster that left me exhausted, I tell ya.  It really kept me entranced and my nose literally stuck in my Kindle, hoping things weren't about to erupt with craziness.  It did, but I enjoyed every second of it.

I absolutely adored this series and these characters.  It was nice to see past characters, and mentions of others, but I love how Jagger Cole can get me so sucked into each character's storyline where I'm like "Mischa who?" only because my heart, mind and soul are being captured by the current main characters.

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this novel and, as always, can't wait for more by this fantastic author!  You MUST read his novels - you won't regret it!

Review: Burned Cinder by Jagger Cole

Burned Cinder Burned Cinder by Jagger Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This book is a rollercoaster of events. Seriously, my mind is still trying to process everything that happened after I INHALED this novel. I've been having a hard time keeping my attention to novels lately, but that was NOT the case in this time - read it in less than a day!

I will say, I'm so over the secrets. I think A LOT of this could have been solved if everyone just told the truth about everything. And I'm looking at you, Noel. I think he keeps too much to himself and won't open up to Ella, which caused a lot of confusion and a lot of powerful people to sway Ella's very emotional state of mind.

I also think she needs to fess up about her loan to Noel to fix that, cause that's going to become an issue very soon, I feel.

So yes, I need the next book to be them opening their hearts and bleeding out their secrets cause this rollercoaster I've been on has been fun, but somewhat frustrating as well.

I loved the spicy scenes in this book, along with the temptation they both are going through for each other. It may be a hate/love connection, but boy do they set fire to the pages when they are in the moment!

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this, and I'm ALSO glad we have book 2 INSTANTLY!!! Jagger Cole really knows how to make his readers happy so we don't have to wait after that cliffhanger!

I 100% recommend this to all readers - all of Jagger Cole's books need to be devoured!

Review: Tempting the Cowboy by Kennedy Fox

Tempting the Cowboy Tempting the Cowboy by Kennedy Fox
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

I DEVOURED this book! I seriously think it's my all time favorite of all of the Bishops, not gonna lie, and I've read all of them. The only one that rivals it is Maisie and Gavin's story.

I love the connection that Ivy and Kane have. I also love that Ivy is a bookworm cause I connected with her so much because of that. She is definitely my soul sister at heart.

The only tiniest thing I was frustrated with is the secrecy. I really hate when people are sneaking around to hide what they are doing around friends and family. It's so dramatic and usually unnecessary and just causes so many issues.

Other than that, I loved the spicy scenes, I love the sweet scenes and of course I loved every moment with these Bishops. I can't get enough of them!

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this book and, as always, very excited for the next one when it comes out!

Review: Mad as Hell by Hannah McBride

Mad as Hell Mad as Hell by Hannah McBride
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

I seriously can't express how much I love all things Hannah McBride. She has created another masterpiece that I dived into with no question and let her magic take over.

Maddie has always had a rough life, but things went to a whole nother level when she switched lives. Now she's involved in so much more, more twists and turns, more mystery and revelations. I took my time reading this and my mind is still spinning with everything that was revealed!

I'm so glad she made Ryan grovel as much as he did. He needed to realize that she can't be treated like that and she won't forgive that quickly.

There is so much in this book I can't even wrap my head around everything, but y'all serially need to read this author, this series, just, all of it! I'm so glad I've been a fan since day one and I will read anything this woman throws out into the wild! So glad I got the chance to read this book! Can't wait for the next one!
