Review: Rule Number Five by Jessa Wilder

Rule Number Five Rule Number Five by Jessa Wilder
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I read a short teaser excerpt on Facebook at the hockey game and the jersey mishap, and I had the need to read this book because of that alone, so I dived into it from there.

For the most part, I enjoyed this book. I wish Sidney didn't fight their attraction for so long. Reading about characters who let circumstances dictate their life choices always gets to be a bit much for me. And even though EVERYONE can clearly see her and Jax click on a level many can only dream of, I know she had her reasons, but judging someone's choices in a sport because of ONE person in your life is wrong to me. Now if she had multiple people in her life with the same issue, yes. But one person? Give the man a shot. He proved himself over and over and over again with all of his actions on how consumed he was with Sidney.

For the moments she decided to cave into temptation, those were amazing moments. You can really feel the chemistry between these two and I loved it so much. The moments where she had reasons to avoid Jax and the amazing moments, I got annoyed.

So overall I enjoyed this story. I especially loved how Jax fell for her instantaneously and never gave up hope. That was fantastic!

Review: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

Fourth Wing Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

May 28th review:
I legit just did a reread of this book 20 days later. I almost NEVER reread a book but to cave into temptation in 20 days?  I have so many other things to read, but instead I'm reading a book that I can't help but devour.

I'm glad I did the reread because I caught many things that I either missed or I caught new things based on my knowledge of how evening pans out.  I still laughed, gasped, cried over certain scenes even though I knew they were coming.

Like everyone else, I can't wait until November and honestly wonder how many more rereads I'm going to do before then.

READ THIS BOOK! It's amazing!

May 8th review:
I saw the hype for this book everywhere and I saw MANY of my all time, auto buy authors RAVING about this story. So my expectations were set at an all time high.

I was 1,000% not disappointed!!  I legit read this book in 12 hours. In one day I started and finished this book, and while I consumed it, I knew I was going to be devastated when I finished. Well, here I am devastated but also extremely happy.

Also?  THERE WILL BE SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW. For once I didn't read an early copy so I can say whatever I want and I'm oh so going to lol.

Violet. VIOLET! I need to be her friend. She is fantastic person. So super smart, I love that she wanted to be a scribe and be surrounded by books. And her ability to retain information is amazing! Makes her the dangerous student in her school. And her the brilliant plan she came up with for each of her sparring sessions made me jump up and down with joy.

Xaden. I loved him the second he learned Violets name and threatened her life. The tension between them was instantaneous and it was always sizzling between them with every encounter. For them to have waited so long to cave in to their attraction was agonizing but so worth it. Though he's really put himself into a deep hole by the end of this book. I'm really really going to enjoy seeing him pull out all the bells and whistles to gain Violets trust again. I know it's going to be even more intense I bet.

I honestly despise her mother. I cannot believe she is willing to risk another child, especially considering Violet had only been training for 6 months. All because of their name and image. I would have had a few choice words for her.  And then later when Violet proved herself to her mother's standards? AND HER MOTHER IGNORED HER??? Hell no. No. No. No.

Another person I hate? Dain. That spineless weasel, I can't stand him. I need to be Violets friend so I can punch him and break his nose,  I swear. He's only out for himself. One minute he's lecturing Violet, telling her what to do, acting like she's not 20 years old, the next he's celebrating the exact thing he was scolding her about and acting like he was responsible for it. Just because he realized that he can be associated with her and her some fame from it or something. And his "the rules say...." oh just shove it, Dain.

The amount of people after Violet in this book
is insane and that girl has so much luck on her side.

Also? I loved how many people died in this book. Do not get attached to many of these characters because they drop like flies.

The dragons. THE DRAGONS!!! I freaking love them. Every single second a dragon is on these pages I'm in love. Especially Tarin - he's hilarious and I love his and Violets banter!

The revolution happening is going to get crazy in the upcoming books. I'm not the biggest fan of those but I'll suffer through it to continue loving these characters.

Now, the biggest spoiler because I need to remember for book 2. So, you know, don't read of you don't want spoilers...

I CAN'T BELIEVE BRENNAN IS STILL ALIVE!!!!!!!  How did he fake his death with his mother?? Does she know? Is her mother in the dark? How mad is Violet going to be?? Her father died from his death basically and Violet loved her father. Also? This is not going to go well with Xaden keeping this from her and HE BETTER TELL HER EVERY FREAKING SECRET IN HIS LIFE!!!!! If he messed up what they have forever and she moves on to someone else I'll never forgive him.

So suffice to say, this book has me obsessed and I'm about to own 4 copies - at least! The hype is worth it. I'm telling everyone to read it. And I can't wait for more!

Review: Protected Love by Vikki Jay

Protected Love Protected Love by Vikki Jay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Greys Promotions. This is my honest review.

Vikki Jay is an automatic one click buy author for me. I consume her books the second they are available and fall in love with all of her characters. Gavin and Minnie have now been added to that group.

I absolutely fell in love with these two in the previous book, with Gavin being all protective and grumpy. And Minnie being so shy and quite. But boy do we really get to know the real Gavin and Minnie is their book! They are so much more than what was shown prior and I loved finding out more and more about both of them!

I love Gavin's reaction to Minnie's singing. It's so pure and reactive and real. Warms my heart every time! And Minnie feeling so safe around Gavin? All of this makes me swoon to no end.

I'm also glad I saw the cover before reading this story because it gave me such a great image of Gavin - the model is spot on to the description in the book. I usually will just imagine whatever works for me, but not this time. And I'm not mad about it, at all.

I loved seeing these two fall for each other - I especially loved the parts where they were in the safe house. Definitely my favorite part!

Definitely recommend this book, this series, and this author. I've read her since book 1 and I will continue to read everything to come because I'm obsessed. And I cannot wait for the next couple story! Eek!

Review: The Blood Traitor by Lynette Noni

The Blood Traitor The Blood Traitor by Lynette Noni
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This series.  It was certainly a ride for me, but I honestly think this book, #3, hit it out of the park.  We weren't getting 5 million twists and turns (though there are some still in here, don't you worry) and Kiva was, for the most part, kept up to date with the information so she wasn't stuck in the dark where she's been placed for this whole trilogy.

Her and Jaren?  I had so many mixed, roller coaster of emotions that I went through, I'm a bit mentally drained from it, not gonna lie.  I get where he was coming from, but he SAW how much it was destroying Kiva.  And for him to say some of those things to her?  When she literally shut down before meeting the psychic, I was honestly so worried for her.  And you can tell Jaren knew he went too far, but once you put someone down like that, getting their true self back is really hard to do.  I'm glad they were able to finally talk like they should have, but it was way too late for that conversation and to really understand where the other person was coming from.

Tipp, Cresta, Caldon?  Gosh, I love those three so much.  Cresta was a surprise since she was such a nasty person in book 1.  But for her to help Kiva tremendously through her issues back in the prison, that's what really stuck with me.  And then she just never left and her crude humor was fantastic for me.

Tipp?  When he finally forgave Kiva after the Spartan-like battle?  I legit almost sobbed - there were definitely tears in my past over that.  Gosh, I get so attached to these characters.

So while this series as a whole was harder for me, I'm glad I got through it all and got to the end because it was pretty amazing wrapped up as a whole.  I'm definitely a Medoran Chronicles girl through and through, but now I can know what other people are raving about when they talk about the Prison Healer series.

Review: The Gilded Cage by Lynette Noni

The Gilded Cage The Gilded Cage by Lynette Noni
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I... this series is hard for me, I'm coming to find out. I think that Lynette Noni is a brilliant writer who has weaved a magical, mysterious world in this series, but boy are there just a bit too many twists and turns. It seems to be Neverending and it's not all staying straight in my head, even though I'm actually reading these books pretty slowly.

Kiva is learning who she is more and more through this book, but she's so far in the dark with her family she's back in the Abyss. Is not fair to put a girl in the middle of a war when she was trapped in a prison for more than half her life.

I will say, her telling her siblings the secrets to overthrow the throne? Bad move Kiva. I don't care what she thought, don't tell the rebel leaders the secret, no matter how "impossible" it seems to be.

Her sister is a piece of work. I hope she's sent to the prison she feared as a child for the rest of her life.

Jaren? His magic? I feel like there's a way to fix this, but fixing his trust in Kiva will be next to impossible. Especially how Kiva's sister made everything sound.

I'm very glad I'm reading this series back to back rather than having to wait for a new release. Cause as curious as I am on how things get fixed, I'm losing steam quickly. BUT, off to book 3 to I'm sure a happily ever after, with another billion twists and turns in the process.

Review: The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni

The Prison Healer The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Okay, okay, that ending took me for a complete surprise and moved the rating of this book from a 3 to a 4, not gonna lie.

I was kinda dragging through most of this book. The pacing was a bit too slow for me and I was wondering where is this all going? Well, now I have my answer cause that twist at the end? Kiva's personality change within one sentence? Yeah, I'm interested to see how everything pans out now.

Also, this wasn't an early copy, so I'm doing spoilers. Walk away if you don't want to know more from this point on.

I want surprised by Jaren being the Prince. I didn't call him being that person exactly per say but I had a feeling he had magic and that's usually royalty. Him having all 4 elements? That was a bit of a surprise.

Kiva having healing abilities and Tilda being her mother?! Those two things are blowing my mind right now! Not once did I see those happening because Kiva did not act like those things were a possibility!

And this line at the end: "She smiled shyly back, offering no indication as to who he was leading to his city". Like, that makes Kiva DEVIOUS and she is the least devious person I've ever read about. I literally have no idea who this character is, even after reading an entire book through her viewpoint. I'm quite impressed with Lynette Noni, not gonna lie. This isn't as good as Akarnae, as least for now, but now I'm dedicated to find out how this all ends.

So yeah, I get the hype now. I'm hoping more crazy things happen in book 2 and now I can't wait to see what happens when Jaren discovers who Kiva really is and what happens. This is going to be fun!

Ms Perfectly Fine Ms Perfectly Fine by Kate Callaghan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This was a novel full of twists and turns. First you have the tension between the two characters and then the mystery aspect thrown in there too!

I could tell that Autumn wasn't used to living with someone else because boy did she throw some fits. At some point just get over it and make a change if you don't like what's going on. You can tell im NOT an only child lol.

I'm glad I got the chance to read this book!

Review: One and Only by Karla Sorensen

One and Only : a single dad fake marriage sports romance One and Only : a single dad fake marriage sports romance by Karla Sorensen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Wildfire Marketing PR. This is my honest review.

This book. There are so many feelings, feel emotional feelings, that the reader goes through with these characters. I love Greers ferocious love that she has for everyone around her. No joke, she's so intense with her emotions on her sleeve.

And Beckett is so adorable with his daughter it's ridiculous how much I love it. He's also so serious and stoic and seeing him paid up with Greer is fantastic.

This is a slow burn, y'all. Like soooo slow burn; I thought it was going to be a clean romance for the LONGEST TIME (no hate on clean romance here!). I was crawling out of my skin with the intensity these two were having with each other.

This was my first novel by this author but I foresee it not being my last! I'm so glad I got ensnared by the synopsis and that I dived into this book because I really enjoyed it!

Review: The Royal Gauntlet by Nicole Sanchez

The Royal Gauntlet The Royal Gauntlet by Nicole Sanchez
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This entire series was amazing! I was sucked into the story right off the bat and it's had its claws in me the whole time since!

Daphne is fantastic. She's an amazing woman who loves so deeply and always feels the need to be there for everyone. Seeing her and Essos go head to head more times than not about safety and protection was adorable. And it was adorable that Essos thought he could put her in a bubble lol.

So many reveals and new characters happened in this book, all for it to get wrapped up at the end. I love the side characters and wonder if some of them well be getting their own stories?! (*cough, Cat?!?!*)

I predicted quite a few things in here, but some other things were a pleasant surprise. All I know is that I immensely enjoyed this story and won't be forgetting all the drama and action that happened in this Trilogy!

Review: Save One Thing by Julia Wolf

Save One Thing Save One Thing by Julia Wolf
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Valentine PR.  This is my honest review.

This is my first Julia Wolf novel and I got sucked into this story immediately!  I'm very glad I got intrigued by the synopsis and decided to dive into it because I really enjoyed it.

The best thing that I loved about this book is probably not what everyone else loves about it.  I mean, I loved more than one thing, but the best?  The realism shown in the relationship between Luciana and her mother.  And how it doesn't make sense why Luc would keep going back for more, but she DOES because she WANTS to because she's her mother.  It's such a hard thing for others who are not in the mix cannot understand, especially for a teenager who wants to be around her mom.  And that was so realistic and hard hitting for me.

On a lighter note, I loved Luciana and Beckett together.  Speaking of realism and realistic, the way Beckett acted when they first met?  And Luc's reaction to it?  So true for people who are tongue tied and stunned speechless!  You just never know how one will respond when you are presented with something that just totally shocks you.

I was truly surprised by Beckett's intensity throughout this book and how strong it kept getting.  That's all I'll say to not spoil anything, but the boy that Luc met on that first day and Beckett finally going after what he's wanted for years?  Ya'll, just be prepared to get swooned by some of the amazing things he says!

I'm so so interested in seeing if the author will do the other characters stories in their group, because I need to see Ev.  She just fascinates me to no end on her social standards and seeing someone sneak into her bubble would be fantastic!

I'm definitely keeping my eye out for more Julia Wolf, and if I ever get caught up on all of my backlog books, I'll definitely look at her backlist of books to catch up on!

Review: Pick Six by Maggie Rawdon

Pick Six Pick Six by Maggie Rawdon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Grey's Promotions.  This is my honest review.

It's officially, I absolutely love Maggie Rawdon and her writing and her stories!  Alex and Harper are fantastic characters that I instantly fell in love with and seeing them banter together, come to learn more about each other, and just fall for each other even more than they already were was amazing.

Alex is such a strong guy - not necessarily physically but mentally.  For you to have connected with someone like Harper only to see her start dating your best friend and then end up marrying him, all while you thought about the one night you met?  That is commendable because most people couldn't have stayed friends with someone who "took something" away, even if it wasn't on purpose.

And I just adore Harper.  I love the nickname that Alex gave her and I love her optimistic view on life.  She's always trying to find the better side of everything and to see her open up to Alex and give in to her crush was fantastic.

One day, I'm going to get my hands on signed copies of Maggie's books because I have been gobbling them up like crazy when they are released!  I can't recommend her books enough and I'm already waiting on the next book to come out!

Review: Vicious Hearts by Jagger Cole

Vicious Hearts Vicious Hearts by Jagger Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Valentine PR. This is my honest review.

Wowzas. Every book Jagger Cole writes, I end up falling in love with the characters. Cillian and Una were no different! I've always been so intrigued by Cillian when we meet him in past books and if he was really as unhinged as people said. And he totally is! But seeing him with Una was amazing. It didn't make him any less unhinged but it gave him a focus.

I loved the beginning of this book the way Una met Cillian and the reason she was meeting him. So unique and suspenseful and then the tension that quickly escalated. It was attention grabbing and wouldn't let me out of its hooks ha.

Learning about Una's past was gutwrenching and so sad. No child should have to grow up that way. I'm glad she came out of that experience with a semblance of normalcy.

I already have this book en route to me to add to my ever growing collection and I can't wait to see the next masterpiece by Jagger Cole!
