Review: Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Stone Cold Touch Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, the epic love triangle. I'm not one for this pulling of which man should I choose, but Jennifer L. Armentrout had a way with words and stories that will make any reader read every trope and genre out there!

Again, my original review below perfectly explains all of my thoughts and feelings about this amazing novel. And TEAM ROTH!! I just love him so :)

My original review from October 23, 2014:
Absolutely amazing, not that I'm surprised. Loved the continuation of Layla's story and the struggles she goes through not as a half Warden/demon but also with her feelings towards Roth and Zayne.

Loved the extra scene through Zayne's point of view, but I gotta say I am team Roth all the way. Even with the time Layla spent with Zayne I still wasn't swayed to his team. Roth, baby, Roth.

Also, I totally guessed who the "bad" character was almost from the start. Okay, not from the very start, but pretty darn close to it. I cannot wait to read the third book to find out how everything ends and I sincerely hope my vote for Roth to be the winner of Layla's heart happens. I might be crushed if it doesn't.

So worth waiting for and I will be trying my hardest to get everyone I know to read this series, even though it's about gargoyles. I'll just tell people that it's about sexy rock hard men... hmmm, that might work :D

Review: White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout

White Hot Kiss White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Everything I said below in my original review 7 years ago is exactly the same way I feel now! Roth is a fantastic character and I honestly wish this series could have been written as a new adult or an adult novel to be able to get more detailed, sexier scenes. As it is, he's still crazy sexy! Daemon will always be my #1, but Roth is not far behind him!

I will forever recommend this series and I'm so glad I decided to re-read this again!

My original review from Jan. 6, 2014:
I received this free ARC book from my work at the public library at the beginning of the month and snatched it up in a heartbeat!

I was so excited to see this book! I just read the prequel and was wanting to continue the story, so this was a God send.

We met Layla very briefly in the prequel novel, but I absolutely adored her in this novel. She knows she's not the most liked person in her world. She can't fit in with the humans, demons or the Wardens. Her normal is not very normal. But being able to tag demons for the Wardens gives her something to do and a "responsibility" in the Warden world.

And Roth. Oh Roth. Love me some sexy, bad-news demon! But he definitely wasn't like the other demons and the reader could tell right away. The way he handled Layla was so sweet, but also so hot at times.

Zayne was cute, but also annoying for me. He was the "big brother" but most of the time it was also jealousy. And he was being petty for some of the novel. Petty and childish. But he loves Layla - anyone can see that. He just has to figure out who he wants to help the most: Layla or the Wardens.

I have to say, as well, that since I know JLA is a huge fan of the show "Supernatural", I most definitely laughed out loud when she referenced that show!

Amazing book. Amazing new series that I think will capture a lot of readers attention. This is a new genre with a different "supernatural" creature that might intrigue a new audience.

Definitely a great novel and I cannot wait for more! So sad that I have to wait forever - specially since I got this a few months ahead of time!

Review: Bitter Sweet Love by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Bitter Sweet Love Bitter Sweet Love by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just re-read this book to binge read the entire Dark Elements and Harbinger series since it will be finished in June!  And I cannot believe it's been 8 years since I've been involved in this amazing series!!  I forgot how young Jasmine and Dez are in this book, since I'm more familiar with them being in Layla's story.  And I loved seeing them reconnect and realizing just how deep their connection is.

Everything below from my original post below still stands, and now off to dive into one of the greatest series JLA has created :D

My original review from December 27, 2013:
The idea of sexy gargoyles intrigued me when I first heard about this series, and since Jennifer L. Armentrout wrote the series, I knew it wouldn't disappoint - which it didn't!

I loved Jasmine's ultimatums for the 7 days she was required before answering Dez and that she stuck to most of them throughout the novel. As for Dez's condition, well, I wouldn't have argued about fulfilling that part of the bargain ;-)

I wish that we would get to read more about Jas and Dez, but I'm very excited about Layla's story since she is a unique Warden!

I've said this so many times it's starting to get ridiculous, but you need to read JLA's novels. All of them. She is an amazing writer, so talented, and her novels take you out of this world. Once you read her, you'll never want to read another author!

Go read this. Now. And find her other books and read them too! :)

Review: Ember in the Heart by Samantha Young

Ember in the heart Ember in the heart by Samantha Young
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This was a nice, short story that was gifted to Samantha Young's newsletter followers!

I adored Ember and Georgie and Foster!  The tension between Ember and Foster was off the charts, and seeing them come to blows was wonderful.  I love how Ember connected with Georgie so quickly and to see them bond together was sweet.

I also liked that Ember is older than Foster, since I'm older than my significant other.  Not by as many years, but it was still something I could relate to.

The only issue I have with this is that I want to see happily ever afters for all of the Bonet sisters! I'm sure that isn't going to happen since this was just a short newsletter special, but one can hope, right?

Loved this book so much and I can't wait to see what the next novella will be about!

The Introvert's Guide to Online Dating The Introvert's Guide to Online Dating by Emma Hart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

I love these characters Emma Hart created! And Tori is fantastic, along with Colton too. They have their issues in communication, but their tension, their banter, is 100% wonderful!

Both of them crack me up so much and I was getting weird looks because I was laughing at my book. Also, those grandparents are hilarious. The ducks and now chickens? I just can't contain my love for everything these books give me :)

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this book and I'm already anticipating the next masterpiece in this series!

Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance Crazy, Stupid, Fauxmance by Shellee Roberts
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

I gotta say, this one was by far my favorite of of the 3 books in this series that I've read. I love how much Mariely fights for what she wants. She's very down to earth, a hard worker, and a spitfire character. And I even liked Cabot, though he was a bit whining about his parents situation when others have gone through a lot worse.

I'm glad I got to get inside these characters heads and that I finally got around to reading these books I've had for years!

Review: How Willa Got Her Groove Back by Emily McKay

How Willa Got Her Groove Back How Willa Got Her Groove Back by Emily McKay
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Oh boy, I've had this book for some time, just sitting on my kindle waiting to be read. Too many years to call it an eARC, but there you have it.

I wanted to like this story more, but to me it was just okay. Willa really got on my nerves. She's very egocentric and can't stand change, which drives me batty. I see her concerns, but she needs to let her dad live his own life and stop micromanaging him. Besides, she's a senior and will be going off living her own life, so the decisions he makes about his personal life won't affect her as much then.

I like Finn, but I feel like he puts on a front to look cool and nonchalant. I wish he would just tell it like it is to everyone, but he seems to only have that abruptness with his mom, weirdly.

At the end of this book it says there is a book 2: Willa and the Electric Kool-Aid Boyfriend Test (what an odd and long title...) but I can't find it anywhere so I'm assuming it never got published in November of 2016. I don't think I would have read it, but I did want to see the synopsis. Oh well, guess it wasn't meant to be?

I'm glad I finally got around to reading this novel!

Review: The Hate of Loving You by Maya Hughes

The Hate of Loving You The Hate of Loving You by Maya Hughes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Oh Bay and Dare. These two are destined to be with each other, yet they desperately need to work on their communication skills. I just want to shake them and make them see sense throughout most of their story.

I love that they got to live their dreams, though I think they could have done it together throughout all of the years they missed out together. Not many people can say they legit got to do what they hoped and dreamed for, so I'm extremely happy for them.

I'm also glad they matured (somewhat) and can see past the immediate gratification of their current life styles. Both of these characters have gone through a lot of emotional turmoil and it was very hard to witness. So to see them fight through those struggles and come out on the other end was so sweet.

This series will gut you, so I highly recommend you bone read all 3 books when they are published. It will save you some heartache and emotional distress!

Maya Hughes did a phenomenal job with this storyline and I'm so glad I got the chance to read it. I loved seeing pat characters pop up, and even some crossover characters from other series! I can't wait for her next masterpiece!

Review: My Cruel Lover by T.L. Smith

My Cruel Lover My Cruel Lover by T.L. Smith
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

I am so happy for Beckham's story! He had been through a lot and seeing adult Beckham struggle to deal with his emotions is rough. He is a mess, but we see him living again and feeling emotions he hasn't felt in awhile, which is wonderful.

I flew through this book so fast and almost wish there was more, but I'm really happy about the ending! I'm very intrigued to know who the next book is about...I have my suspicions, so I'll have to wait (patiently) and see if I'm right. So glad I got the chance to read this book!

Review: The Prince I Love to Hate by Iris Moreland

The Prince I Love to Hate (A Steamy Romantic Comedy) The Prince I Love to Hate (A Steamy Romantic Comedy) by Iris Morland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

This was a great story. I love that Niamh had the chance to travel and see where her family came from, even though it was for not so great reasons. And since I'm not familiar with other countries, I had to look up how to pronounce her name and was surprised to find out it sounds NOTHING like how it's spelled! "Neeve" is how it is pronounced, btw.

Olivier was a very odd character when we first met him. I'm not sure how I feel about him even now that I finished the book. He's so distant and is always keeping things to himself. It's not the hot, mysterious way that some characters are, but more of an annoying, frustrating way. At least for me anyway. I do hope in the next book we could get both viewpoints? That might help me like him more.

I'm glad I got the chance to read this book and I'm excited to see how book 2 goes when it gets published!

The Forgotten Rune The Forgotten Rune by G. Bailey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Dae is such a strong, tough, empowering woman and I love her so much! She never gives up and she's determined to make everything right, no matter the cost.

This book flew by so fast and had now left me wanting more, per G. Bailey's normal way of entrapping me into her stories.

I still love Seth the most, and Ryker second, but her men are also fighters and they are so possessive! It's hard not to love them all!

I'm very excited for the next installment already, and I'm really glad I got the chance to read this book!

Claiming Her Forever: An Alpha Mountain Man Romance Claiming Her Forever: An Alpha Mountain Man Romance by Alexis Winter

This was a great novel! I love how close Quinn was with her mother and I am so proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone to experience new things.

I really liked Sawyer at first, but the way he reacted to certain need and treated Quinn does not settle well with me. Actions speak louder than words and his actions were the wrong ones to follow, so I would not have been as forgiving.

I'm glad I got the chance to read this book and I look forward to more by this author!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This book is so great and you will fly through it! I love how Colt and Tansy first met and it was cute how they tried to avoid their attraction to one another at first. It was obvious the sparks were flying between these two from the moment they met!

Even though you fly through this book, the story was great and I loved how justice was served in the end. This is a cute story that makes you feel good and also makes you want to find your own cowboy in a small town!

So glad I got the chance to read this and I look forward to more by this author!

I surprisingly enjoyed this duology! Liv and Cedric are wonderful characters, and I enjoyed all of the side characters as well. Shannon may be one of my favorites.

I liked how things got fixed and how the characters got to choose what their futures would be.

I'm glad I finally got around to reading this series!

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

I have had this book for...a long time... and just finally got around to reading it. And I really enjoyed it! I loved the main synopsis and I liked the characters. It is a unique storyline that I have not read before, so I really loved that.

I think Liv is brave and dumb at the same time. She's been through a lot in her short life and she definitely has survival instincts.

Cedric and crew are entertaining when they are in earth because they don't know anything, so seeing them experience everything for the first time was nice.

I'm excited I have book 2 so I can dive right in after that very interesting ending! Glad I finally got around to reading this book!

I am loving this new world that Jagger Cole has created! Lev and Zoey have an intense connection between them and as much as Zoey tried to fight it, there was no resisting their attraction. I really loved this story and I'm glad I got the chance to read it!

I adored this series and I'm so glad I have the box set so I can now binge read through this story without pausing to find the next book. Millie and her band of men are wonderful and I loved the overall story of this series!

And the epilogue made me squeal, yet burning with lots of questions that I don't know if they will get answered! But I loved that sneak peek into their future lives.

Review: Devil You Hate by J. L. Beck

Devil You Hate Devil You Hate by J.L. Beck
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

This was a very different book than I've read before, so I was very intrigued and on the edge of my seat on what would happen next. I'm a romantic at heart, so the entire novel in rooting for Nic and Celia to fall in love. I did not realize how determined Nic would be to follow through his plan, and how he can turn off his emotions.

And Celia goes through so many emotions and seeing her get destroyed over and over, just to overcome those feelings and put herself back together must be exhausting. I feel for her, always a pawn in someone's game and she's never been able to live her OWN life. I'm rooting for her to get to that point on her life, but I feel like it may not be the easiest thing to achieve.

So I'm invested in this story now and I'd really like book 2 after that very interesting ending! Glad I got the chance to read this book!

This was a cute novel. I haven't read the previous novels in the series, which isn't required, but I feel like it would have helped figure out what characters were who in this dynamic family.

I love Jules and how she has a take no prisoners attitude. She is down to earth and real and I loved it. She got along so well with Esme and the tension between her and Jake was off the charts crazy intense.

I'm glad I got the chance to read this and maybe one day I will read the other books in this series!

Review: Finding Alexei by Kendall Ryan

Finding Alexei Finding Alexei by Kendall Ryan
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was a cute, fast read. I think Ryleigh was a bit too trusting of Alexei at the beginning  but she was also desperate so people make strange decisions when that happens. Though it was a good decision in the end for her!

I feel so much for Andi. I think she could have made different choices, but I get why she did it. And it was a sad, bittersweet reveal on why she made that decision.

I love how adorable Alexei was with Ella and how much he loves kids.

Overall I really liked this book!

His True North His True North by A.M. Kusi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

I am so excited that Charlie and Finn's story is finally here! They've always popped up in the previous novels, so to finally know more about them and their story was fantastic! Charlie's past with her mom is gut wrenching. I can't imagine growing up that way.

Seeing Finn and Charlie reconnect and "meeting" again was sweet but sad at the same time. Charlie is definitely a fighter and so strong because she was the one with past memories and having the patience of a Saint.

I do appreciate the message (one of a few in this book) about communication and trust. That is a key requirement in a relationship and these two characters struggled with it, like MANY couples do. To see them overcome that was inspiring.

I'm so glad I discovered A. M. Kusi because these books and this series is fantastic! I can't wait for the next one, and I'm oh so happy I got the chance to read this eARC!

Come To Me Come To Me by J.H. Croix
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

Gemma and Diego are so sweet and adorable. They both are awkward and so shy with each other, but the flames that spark when they see where things will go are off the charts. I love how they are insanely attracted to each other and how well J. H. Croix got that feeling you have when one is first starting to date someone.

I still love the flying aspect of this series and I think I will for every book in this series! And now I'm tempted to try yoga after reading about Gemma's classes. Not sure how well I'd do, but now I'm intrigued.

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this book and, as always, I'm looking forward to the next one in this series!

Review: The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Crown of Gilded Bones The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Poppy and Casteel are in for another wild ride in this book! I know this book is huge, but after finishing it, I feel like I needed MORE words and pages! It was fantastic and amazing and wonderful. Everyone will be amazed and stunned by Jennifer L. Armentrout's creative mind during this entire read.

This book starts off intense and action packed and so many questions get answered. Readers are going to be immersed immediately and they won't come up for air until the very last word they read. Forget about eating or sleeping, this is going to suck you in with no relief.

There is so much information in this book. So. Much. Your mind is going to be blown away and I'm honestly debating about re-reading right away because I'm sure I missed some important highlights by speed reading through it so quickly!

Poppy. Dear Poppy. She is so tough and brave and smart and loyal. I love her as the main character because even though she's terrified at times, she always makes the right decision. She is also so emotional and doesn't shy away from showing it. She is also so inquisitive and is always asking questions, which I'm grateful for because that means MY questions are usually answered too.

Casteel is fantastic. Just when I think he can't get more amazing, he does something so sweet and wonderful and says the perfect thing. I can't even handle how much I love him and if JLA wanted to give us the whole series in his viewpoint I wouldn't say no haha.

The reveal of so many characters had me stunned, ecstatic and every emotion in between. I should have figured out so many, but I was along for the surprises and loved every second of it. I laughed so hard in parts of this book, and I cried hysterically in others.

This book is going to leave you stunned and an emotional wreck, so I recommend you read this with no plans afterward because I can definitely say, you will be so in your head with the information overload you get, nothing will register.

I have learned throughout the years that I will be left in awe with a JLA book, and this book fell into that category as well. If you haven't read this fantastic series, make it a priority! You need to discover this amazing world!

This was a cute novel. I loved the family rivalry and how crazy the two families got around each other. Sienna sacrificed a lot with this fake marriage - I love my family, but I would not go to that extreme! And Donovan was so sneaky, waiting for just the right moment to pounce.

I loved the family run business at the vineyard and the weird quirks they do for traditions sake. And Sienna's pets? I just asked them.

This is a fun, entertaining book! I'm glad I got the chance to read it!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

I am stunned. After the ending of book 1, this was not how I envisioned book 2 would go. Half the time I was in a state of confusion, wondering how the two books connect with one another. The other half of the time I was amazed at how brilliant Rina Kent is.

This book gives so much information about the two main characters, yet leaves the reader with a ton of questions. I'm really anticipating book 3 because surely questions will be answered at long last!

This series really is a masterpiece that leaves you hanging with every word and sucking you into the story. You will not stop reading until the final page, and you will be left needing the next book ASAP! Loved this so much!

My Almost Ex My Almost Ex by Piper Rayne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

This series is fantastic! I adored book 1 and I love this book too! Lucy and Adam's story left is with a major cliffhanger at the end of book 1, so it was very exciting to dive into their story about what really happened.

I can't imagine forgetting my life, so I really felt for Lucy. She was told all of these things that didn't make sense to her, because she is a different from the person she used to be. She was confused and frustrated and I can't imagine everything she was feeling.

And on the other side, I also felt bad for Adam. He went through a really hard time after Lucy left, so I don't blame him for protecting his heart this time around. Seeing them reconnect and learn about each other again was sweet and adorable, but I was sitting here waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I figured out the initial reason Lucy left before it was revealed, but it was nice to see both characters reactions on the solved mystery.

I'm really loving the Greene family and I cannot wait for the next book to dive back into this world! So happy I got the chance to read this!
