Review: Caught by Raathi Chota

Caught Caught by Raathi Chota
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I received this eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

I really, really, really wanted to like this. I truly did. I love the cover, I love the synopsis, I love the beginning. But this book just wasn't for me, I don't think. First, the characters. There are so many boys, first of all, and all of them are bullies. And not true bullies, because they will be mean one moment and then nice the next. They are bi-polar bullies. And there are 2 different group of guys that are bullying Lana, and she basically goes from one group to the next without blinking an eye. Plus there is another character that I bet has a significant role to play, at least by reading the synopsis for the second book, that I didn't even get to before I gave up on this book.

Also, Lana. Gah, she is supposed to be a nerdy girl, a good girl, a Yale girl, but she interchanges herself so much that she goes from a good girl to a rebel in literally a second. It depends on who she is around, which honestly makes her two-faced and changes herself depending on who she's next to, which really annoys me to no end.

I know this book says 361 pages on the goodreads page, but I seriously think the one I got is way more pages, because I only got 54% through this book, and it took forever.

One other thing that got too much? There were so many plot twists and such terrible things that happened that the reader would assume that the book was finished with a cliffhanger and ready for the next book in the series. Instead, one bad thing after another kept happening to Lana. What made this really unrealistic was that Lana had a normal life before the 4 got intertwined with her, and now everything that can go wrong is going wrong... It was just a lot to deal with.

I'm bummed that I didn't like this book as well as I wanted to, and I really wanted to see what happened to these characters, but it was just TOO much for me. I'm sure there are readers out there who would enjoy this novel, though! I'm glad I got a chance to read this.

Review: I Spy the Boy Next Door by Samantha Armstrong

I Spy the Boy Next Door I Spy the Boy Next Door by Samantha Armstrong
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this eARC novel from BookSirens and the Publisher. This is my honest review.

Mallory NEEDS to go to high school. She’s been home schooled her whole life, and she wants a normal, teenage girl experience. Being stuck in her house with her mother and brother all day is not enough for her anymore. After convincing her mother (with her dad’s help) she finally gets to experience high school for her senior year.

And the biggest reason she wants to go: Troy Parker. The boy she’s been in love with for 5 years since he moved in next door. Don’t be mistaken – she’s never interacted with him, but Mallory knows she can’t get enough of him. She’s even gone so far as spying outside her window at 4pm when he comes back from his run, every day.

So Mallory goes to school with a lot of expectations. Most are fine, but Troy’s reaction to her doesn’t change. He’s surly, moody and glares at her. A. Lot. Mallory may be a good girl, but she is tired of the way he treats her, so she’s on a mission to fix this.

But Mallory has no idea what is really going on in her life. In fact, she’s completely blindsided when deep, dark, hidden secrets are revealed – and it seems Troy might have a role in the secrets. Now Mallory needs to figure out everything, and see if her feelings for Troy are even real.

I’ve seen this book floating around a lot, and I’ve ignored it for the most part. I think it was the odd, creepy title and the bland book cover (yes, I judge books by their cover…I can’t help it!). But I decided to get it a go this time, and I’m actually glad I did! I enjoyed it fairly well, which was a surprise!

If you like Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, then this is right up your ally. In fact, they even mention Travis Maddox in here, which cracked me up because Troy is pretty much an exact replica of Travis.

There are a lot of twists and turns, mood swings up the galore, love and hate, mystery and reveals in this book. Mallory is pretty much naïve in all things, so seeing her learn is entertaining and revealing.

Again, I’m glad I finally read this and will be recommending it to friends who enjoy this genre.

Review: Rage by Cora Carmack

Rage Rage by Cora Carmack
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Aurora/Rora/Roar went on a mission to get magic. What she discovered was far beyond what she imagined. Now that she has a better understanding of her world, Roar needs to go back home. Except when she gets there, she finds that everything has changed. The man she was supposed to marry has taken over her castle, her mother has not been seen since Roar left, and her people are being attacked by not only the new royal guards, but also from the Stormlord, who is out to get revenge on the Locke’s, and doesn’t care who he destroys in the process.

Waiting has never been a strong trait of Roar’s, but she is going to need a lot of patience if she wants to achieve everything she must to make sure her future is hers to rule…

This was a great sequel to Roar. I do admit that it was a bit slower than book #1, but it was a lot of character development and getting to know more about the current state of Pavan. The reader also gets a chance to see more characters – not only meeting new ones, but also getting their viewpoint of the situation at hand.

The Stormlord is a confused, complicated character, but I think I have him figured out. This novel didn’t come right out and say it, but I think I know who he is and why he’s so messed up.

Roar showed a lot of impatience and rash decisions throughout this book, but the good thing is that she learned from them, which will mean that she will be a great leader in the future.

My conflicting feels for Locke and Cassius still exist after reading this book. I can’t decide if I’m Team Locke or Team Cassius because both have their strengths and weaknesses. I have to say, unless something major happens in the next book, I’d be happy with Roar ending up with either of them, which is very rare for me as I also have a favorite.

I’m very glad I got a chance to read this eARC and I think a lot of readers are going to enjoy this next installment of Roar’s adventure!

Right Next Door Right Next Door by Delilah Peters
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

This was short and sweet. I enjoyed the background story of the characters and how much they had grown from their pasts. The instant attraction was great and the simmering scenes between them were steamy. I'm glad i got a chance to read this.

Review: Break Me by Tracy Wolff

Break Me Break Me by Tracy Wolff
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I received this eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

I just couldn't get into this book. Two strangers meet, have an instant attraction and then they can't stop going after each other. I'm all for that in a book, but I also need a bit more. There are dark pasts that neither of them want to think, which means that I'm left in the dark about it, and the focus is on the superficial things, which makes me disconnect from the story.

I'm sure other readers will enjoy this novel, but it just wasn't for me overall.

Review: Kingsbane by Claire Legrand

I received this eARC novel from Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

This was a very long book full of twists and turns, love and heartbreak, loyalty and betrayal. I thought that I would be done with this series after this book because I just wasn't that into it, but that ending... I now need to know what is going to happen!

The time travel part was a bit interesting. I'm curious what exactly was changed when they came back to their time, instead of what had changed in their little pocket of life in the world.

I need to know more about Simon. He is a complete mystery and I feel like there is more to him than anyone can tell after the ending of this book. I don't want to believe it is true, but I also think that anything can happen in this trilogy.

As for Audric and Rielle? I'll be curious to see if the initial scene at the very beginning of Furyborn will actually happen, because it seems that the characters are a bit spread apart now, and how Rielle reacts the longer she is away.

I felt like the book was way too long and had a lot of filler information, and then the BAM ending happened quickly and abruptly. If it wasn't for the ending, I'm sure I would have wiped my hands of this series and called it good, but now there are so many unanswered questions left, and I'm wondering how the author is going to wrap this up in a way to make all readers happy.

I'm also intrigued by Eliana, Remy and the Admiral's future. That is another thing I need answered. But I do have so say, Eliana is still my favorite character out of the bunch, even though she was getting on my nerves a bit during this novel. I just want her to unleash her power and stop being afraid of it, instead of hiding behind her castings. If her predecessor can do it without a casting, I'm 100% positive that Eliana can do it 100x more powerfully.

Now I have to play the waiting game for the 3rd novel. I'm sure that fans of the first novel will devore this book once they get their hands on it!

Review: Furyborn by Claire Legrand

Furyborn Furyborn by Claire Legrand
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this eARC from Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

This story follows two girls. Rielle lives in the castle and is hiding a huge secret from the king and her 2 best friends. Only her father and Tasl know, and all three of them are trying to find a way to get rid of her ability.

Elaina is an assassin. In order to keep her mother and brother safe, she kills targets given to her by the emperor. She also has a secret, one that only her brother Remy knows.

These two are connected in ways they can't imagine, and their fates are yet to be determined. But they well do remarkable things, terrible or great, before they are finished with their mission.

This author is going to be in St. Louis and I wanted to read this in case I wanted to meet her. And I thought the book was pretty good. I really disliked the going back and forth between the two characters, though. Both have a lot going on and being jerked back and forth between their stories was a bit annoying.

I also have a lot of questions that weren't answered by the end of the novel. I'm sure that is what the next two books are for.

I think i like Elaina better than Rielle. I feel like Elaina's story had more information throughout the novel and she's a fighter and survivor. Rielle seemed lost and confused and tortured which made her harder to connect with.

Overall this was a good novel. I'm intrigued for what is going to happen in the next book.

Review: The Mister by E.L. James

The Mister The Mister by E.L. James
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I was debating between 1 or 2 stars... I thought I would be generous and say 2. This book was...blah... If you are looking for a book like 50 Shades of Grey, or better, this is not the book you are looking for. The book could have been cut in half because many things were repeated over and over. A 500 page book where pretty much nothing happened was a bit too much for my liking.

At first, I liked both characters - enough to continue on reading. But then Alessia became a kept woman even though she was fighting her hardest to become free and not running anymore. And Maxim was the one who would repeat things over and over, whether it was in his head or verbally in conversation.

And neither of the characters talked to one another as well as they should have. They left their most important topics unsaid and just hoped that the other one felt the same way or knew about it, without actually talking about it. Which, if they spoke to each other, a lot of their problems would have been resolved right away.

Overall, I would say this book had a lot of hype, but did not live up to it's standard following the 50 Shades of Grey series. I hope E.L. James can do better the next time - otherwise she might be known as a one hit wonder.

Review: Falling for Her Fiance by Cindi Madsen

Falling for Her Fiance Falling for Her Fiance by Cindi Madsen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This was an okay novel. Both Dani and Wes frustrated me because they both felt very strongly toward one another but kept their feelings locked tight. If one of them would have fessed their true feelings, they would have had a lot less drama and could have started planning their future.

Also, i wish the was an epilogue to show what Dani was doing. I can imagine myself i guess, but i want to know how the author envisioned it...

I'm glad i got around to reading this on my kindle finally.

Review: Things We Never Said by Samantha Young

Things We Never Said Things We Never Said by Samantha Young
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

There is so much about this book! It's full of mystery and flash backs and pinning and heartbreak and love. Seriously, I'm sure you can think of a topic and it will be in this book.

I'm mad at myself that i haven't read the other books in this series. I've really dropped the ball on this for some reason... I'll be getting the others soon and fixing this mistake!

The amount of FEELINGS Dehlia goes through is insane. I'm not sure how she still functions. And the amount of guilt and heartbreak she had gone through is enough to cripple anyone so she is very brave and she is definitely a fighter.

Though there were times i kinda wanted to strangle her, but only because she was being stubborn and a martyr.

I'm so glad i got a chance to read this eARC and i cannot wait for more from Samantha Young!!

Review: Try To Ruin Me by G. Bailey

Try To Ruin Me: A Reverse Harem Bully Romance Try To Ruin Me: A Reverse Harem Bully Romance by G. Bailey
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

After a terrible night that ended in tragedy, Trixy's life changed completely. Selling everything she could, she uprooted her whole life to escape the Hallow family.

Just when life is getting to be normal, Gage, Griffin and Garrett show up at her college and start to bully her. The thing is, Trixy has always loved these boys and she's not able to avoid the temptation to have them in her life. But a secret is brewing in the background that will tear them to pieces...

G. Bailry is an author that i have stumbled upon and I'm playing catch up on her books. So i wa very excited to get this eARC! I haven't read the king brothers books, but i was able to dive in this novel just fine.

I'm not sure how i would have acted with these brothers... they are very cruel and heartless and i wouldn't want to get mixed up in that life. But Trix knew how they worked since she grew up with them.

I'm really glad i got a chance to raff this and i will eventually get to read all of Bailey's books!

Review: Suddenly Royal by Nichole Chase

Suddenly Royal Suddenly Royal by Nichole Chase
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Life changed for Samantha when she found out she is a duchess and had a home ready for her in another country. After much debate and thought process, she decides to accept this responsibility and completely uprooting her life.

Life adds a duchess is hard and unusually, but Samantha seems to be figuring it out. Her attraction to the Prince Alex is a bit harder to compute, though.

This was a good novel. I loved Sam and her bravery to go to another country as royalty. I find it hard to travel period but she's going to rule a country. She's also a great person on how she takes care of her dad, and how much she loved him. She has such a great heart.

I'm glad i got a chance to read this!
