Review: Red Wolf by Rachel Vincent

Red Wolf Red Wolf by Rachel Vincent
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Edelweiss and NetGalley. This is my honest review.

I love Rachel Vincent so getting the chance to read this novel early was really exciting! I think the beginning of this story was a bit slow, but it was creating this very unique world to ensure that reader understand the stakes.

Adele is a complicated character. She's spent the last year thinking about how her future was going to be, just for everything to completely change when she turns 16. To not only finding out that she's a wolf, but that she is expected to go to another town is a bit much for one person to handle.

And then everything just sort of falls apart from there. I can get why she is fighting what is right in front of her face, but at the same time, many lives are in danger while she tries to figure her life out.

I really liked Max and his ever loving patience and understanding. I was definitely Team Max.

The ending was really unique and I would honestly love to see more in this world and how things progress in the Woods, or maybe even Sophie's story when she gets older! But I can be connect with this ending, too :)

I'm really glad I got the chance to read this novel and I look forward to more by this author!

Review: Falling for You by Bailey B.

Falling for You Falling for You by Bailey B.
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and NetGalley. This is my honest review.

This was a good story. I felt a bit disconnected with Layla at the beginning and her backstory, but after awhile it wasn't necessary to have to enjoy the story. I liked Josh, but he was keeping a lot of himself a secret from Layla so she wouldn't like him for his money. I think these two both had issues opening up to each other, which is a problem when you are dating long-distance.

Overall I liked this book and I'm glad I got the chance to read it.

Review: My Vegas Groom by Piper Rayne

My Vegas Groom My Vegas Groom by Piper Rayne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am officially hooked on this series and this family! The Greene family has captured my heart and I will devour each and every one of these stories.

Nikki hasn't been a top contender for my favorite Greene, but that's usually because she is butting into everyone's lives and reporting it on her show. But now that she's the main attraction in her small town, she's getting a small taste at how other people feel.

Logan is 100% wonderful! I loved that he really wanted to give this a whole heartily try to see if they could make it work between them. He is sweet and kind, but very manly being a MMA fighter.

I love Ethel and Paulina and how they made things hilarious throughout the whole book!

I am ever so excited that Jed is the next Greene to fall! I've been waiting for this since we first met him and I know it's going to be fantastic!

If you haven't read these books, it's a must!

Review: Back To Us by J.H. Croix

Back To Us Back To Us by J.H. Croix
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

Oh Nora and Gabriel. These two have been sneaking around during most of this series, so I was happy to see them finally come to terms on how they really feel. I was very surprised by Gabriel and him being the first to admit his true feelings. And the fact that he made a mistake. I loved seeing him realize the full potential of his future with Nora.

Now still has some personal demons to work out during this book, but seeing her overcome those moments were really sweet.

I really am in love with this series, this setting, and these characters. I'm so glad I got the chance to read this book and I can't wait for more by this author!

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

Sadly, I just can't connect with this series. I tried even after not connecting with book 1, I really wanted to like this story, but for me it's just dragging and dragging. I'm sure this book and series will connect with other readers, but unfortunately I just can't click with this. I am glad I got the chance to try and read it though!

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

I've had this book for a long time and finally got around to reading it. It was a hard book for me to get into, though. I'm not sure why, but I want able to connect with Nikki nor the storyline. Then her and Dru, who know nothing about each other, hook up and then have this weird moment with each other and it was all a lot to take in, without having the emotional connection I needed to be invested in this story.

I am curious about Nikki's gift and how that even happens. I've never heard about this before, so that was somewhat interesting.

Review: Her Defenders by G. Bailey

Her Defenders Her Defenders by G. Bailey
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This series is fantastic! I loved diving back into Mairin's story and seeing her find out more details about herself and her destiny. Her four guys are frustrating, yet so amazing. Valentine, Silas, Ragnar and Henderson all have great qualities. I still like Valentine the most, but Ragnar is sneaking into second.

There are a lot of struggles and battles coming up for Mairin. I do hope a lot of people die painfully, especially a new female we get introduced to. She angers me, haha.

So glad I got the chance to read this and can't wait for the next novel in this series!

Damien Damien by Amanda Shelley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

I adored this book! I loved getting to know Vanessa in her brother, Vince's, novel, but getting her own viewpoint and seeing her find her own happily ever after was wonderful! Damien, Vanessa, and Julia are perfect characters and they will melt your heart.

I think my favorite character would have to be Julia. She is so much wiser than her 5 years and seeing her learn and grow through this novel was so sweet!

I'm glad I got the chance to read this book and I'm looking forward to more by this author!

Devil You Know Devil You Know by J.L. Beck
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.

This was one wild ride for Celia and Nic, and I loved every second of it! While their relationship was quite abnormal, you can't deny the attraction between these two from the moment they met.

I think Celia really grew into a strong, forever fierce woman during her time with Nic and I loved that she fought back so much instead of giving in. I did get annoyed with her at the loyalty she was showing towards her father since she KNOWS he doesn't care about her, so I'm glad she saw the light about that subject.

Nic keeps so so so many secrets, especially when it comes to Celia. I feel like if he trusted her with most of those secrets, she would have warned up to him much faster!

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this series and I'm hoping Lucas will get his own story soon!

Review: Courage for Fools by Monty Jay

Courage for Fools Courage for Fools by Monty Jay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions.  This is my honest review.

Oh, my heart.  This book starts off with a sad situation and then it goes into one of the most inspiring stories I've read for a long time.  I love Quinn.  I can relate to her on so many levels and I admire her bravery for taking the infamous road trip along route 66.  I am so glad she got to experience that trip with none other than Rhett as well, because while those two couldn't be more opposite, they just clicked together so fast and so close!

Rhett is also an anomaly when it comes to famous rock stars.  He is so deep and thoughtful and I love how open he is about everything.  Seeing him open up Quinn and make her take chances, live a little, and also find his own meaning and purpose in life - this book is honestly very inspiring.  I now feel like I need to do more with my life after devouring this storyline!

Monty Jay is quickly becoming a must read author of mine and I am so glad I decided to start reading her novels.  This book is going to stay with me for a long time and I think many readers will also fall in love with everything this book gives!

Review: Rock Block by Mickey Miller

Rock Block Rock Block by Mickey Miller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Mickey Miller has become an automatic, must read author for me in the past year! This book has everything in it: love, friendship, romance, heartbreak, laughter and sobbing. It was a roller coaster of emotion and I was along for the ride.

I really adore Sky. She's an anomaly. On the one hand, she's very upfront and open about her thoughts. She's so honest and truthful and very curious about a lot of things. Sky doesn't shy away from most topics and she's very down to earth. But then she is also very closed off about her deep, true, buried feelings. She tricks herself into thinking that her true feelings are not correct and she's hiding a piece of herself.

So Sky is a normal human being, essentially.

Luke had good intentions with his crazy plan, but he really doesn't think things through that well. Thank goodness he paired up with Sky, who did think things through - well for the most part anyway.

I really enjoyed this storyline - it was different and unique from anything I've read before. I also didn't realize that there is a followup book to this story, so now I will sit here twiddling my thumbs, waiting for that one :) I know readers will adore this book!

Review: Hunted by the Bratva Beast

Hunted by the Bratva Beast Hunted by the Bratva Beast by Jagger Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

I immediately get sucked into Jagger Cole's novels and this book was no exception! I love Nina and Kostya and the tension between them. I also love their backstory, in the sense that they were there for each other. Their pasts were traumatic and terrible and it's a wonder they are sane today, but they have found a way to live their lives and I was rooting for them during this entire story.

I'm very excited to see what is next from Cole!

Review: My Twist of Fortune by Piper Rayne

My Twist of Fortune My Twist of Fortune by Piper Rayne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I wish this was my first Greene book to have read, but it is actually my 3rd.  It was a little odd since I have already met Marla and Hank as older parents, so I felt like one of the 9 Greene kids wigged out seeing "parents" getting romantic with each other.

But I am glad I finally got around to the original couple who started the entire Greene family series!  I love how at first Marla and Hank were a bit leery getting together since their kids and the town would gossip, but once they realized their feelings were the real deal, they didn't care what rumors were spread.  That is true love right there.

I'm also glad I got to see the kids as they were younger because it really shapes them into the characters they are for their own stories when they come around.  I liked seeing Cade and Jed butt heads but eventually get to the close knit relationship they grow into and I ADORE Posey!!  I don't think I would have loved her as much  until I read about her wise 8 year old attitude and now I'm extremely excited for when her book shows up!

I would definitely recommend everyone to start with this novella before diving into the kids' stories.  It's a great introduction to this family and the setting!

One Holiday Kiss One Holiday Kiss by A.M. Kusi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was super sweet.  I loved seeing the previous characters in the Shattered Cove series, but I loved seeing the young love bloom between Amara and Lyric!  I don't normally like the friends to lovers genre, but this was just so sweet and exciting that I was sucked into this very short story.  I could have done with a bit more, but it was perfect just the way it is!

I'm looking forward to the next installment by A.M. Kusi!

Review: Beautiful Enemy by Piper Lawson

Beautiful Enemy Beautiful Enemy by Piper Lawson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions.  This is my honest review.

I love a good enemies to lovers story, so I was really excited I got the chance to read this series!  Reagan and Harrison really do have tension between each other, but whether that be because they are enemies or something more is determined after they spend a lot of time together...  I really admire Reagan and her passion to help women in need.  She's fierce and determined, and she's not so easily swayed.  Harrison needs someone like Reagan in his life to loosen him up and make him live a little, instead of collection clubs like no one's business.

I do wish that these two communicated and talked to each other better.  There was a lot of anger and hurt that happened that was unnecessary if they had just opened up to each other and expressed what they were thinking and feeling, so I do hope things become better on that front in the upcoming novels.

I'm very interested to see what happens after the ending of this book and I think a lot of readers will enjoy this storyline!

Review: Here With Me by Samantha Young

Here With Me Here With Me by Samantha Young
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Samantha Young did it again! She not only made me fall in love with a batch of new characters, but also transported me to another country I've never been to, but now have the biggest urge to visit! And I don't like to travel haha.

Robyn is fantastic. I don't know if I've fallen in love with another female character quite as much as I love Robyn. She's strong, independent, tough, but is also scared and unsure. I love that she can take care of herself and doesn't need to be saved, but she wants and needs to feel loved and needed. She's basically every woman in the world, but she's not afraid to say what's on her mind. I wish I could be her bff!

Lachlan was a bit harder for me to love. When he's determined about something he gets a tenacious mannerism that I love, but he is full of so much doubt and is almost overthinking things. When a major life decision of his personal life happens, he needs someone else to explain what could and would happen if he doesn't act right away. To me, that would be a bit much to handle and his mood settings would have done me in, but to each their own right?

Also, I 100% figured out who the culprit was the second we met the character and my decision never wavered! It just clicked in my head and I had no doubt. I felt a lot of pride when it was revealed haha.

I really enjoyed this new series by an author I adore, and I'm very excited to see what other mischief the Adair family will find themselves in with the upcoming novels!

I have been waiting for Elizabeth and Connor's story so I was extremely happy that is finally here! I enjoyed the fact that the first half was a more detailed recap of their time together that we got glimpses of in Maize's story and then the last half was spectacular!

I laughed, I cried, I swooned! This was a fantastic book full of every emotion you can feel and I'm now sad I read through this so fast. I loved every second and now I'm anxiously waiting for the next installment haha.

Readers will instantly fall in love with this story and love visiting past and present Bishop characters.

Consumed by Deception Consumed by Deception by Rina Kent
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions.  This is my honest review.

This story is so full of twists and turns and I loved how the author did each book separately and how they go together so perfectly by the end of it!  It is a very unique way to create this story, and I think when I come back to re-read them in a binge style, I will appreciate it even more!

These characters are full of suspense and angst and so many feelings happen throughout this series.  I'm not sure how they are still sane (...are they?!) but I loved feeling when they felt and how suspenseful it was!  And I loved the main female character.  She grew so much in these three novels and by the end, I would be leery to get on her bad side!

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this novel and I can't wait for more masterpieces by the author!

Review: Grace and Glory by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Grace and Glory Grace and Glory by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

I'm a bit speechless after reading this book. I binged read the entire series and Layla's story too and now I'm sitting here, sad that this journey is over. I have always been Team Roth, but Zayne grew on me a lot during his story and I loved how much he grew throughout this series.

But really, it was Trinity that I loved the most and I'm sad to say goodbye to her. She is such an amazing character. She is crazy strong to not only be training for who knows what, but to do so with limited sight shows how wonderful she is. And she's fearless!

Cayman was 100% great in this book - I love how he connected with Trinity. And he's crazy hilarious and had me in tears laughing so hard!

This novel felt very detailed and yet not as much happened as the previous books in the series. Trinity had a select few things she was focused on and some of those events took longer than others to achieve. But it was a wild, emotional, heart stopping adventure that sucked me in from start to finish. So many reveals happened that surprised me and gave me goosebumps, and I loved every second.

I'm so glad to read this amazing ending to an amazing series and I'm hoping to perhaps see these characters again in the future? Maybe? If not, I'll definitely be revisiting this world again to visit these wonderful people!

Review: Rage and Ruin by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Rage and Ruin Rage and Ruin by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh, I'm loving these re-reads! Though I'm about to get real after this second read... Brace yourself...

So, I'm going to come out and say a VERY unpopular opinion, but I got SO mad at Zayne during this novel.  Many are mad at Trinity because of the way she treated him, but I'm on Trinity's side.  Sure, she's a bit self absorbed, but this girl was literally born to be a fighting machine by a man who doesn't care one bit about her.  She's been surrounded by people who treat her like a precious jewel about to break, but wants her to sacrifice everything for the moment she's summoned to do her duty.  She has a terrifying disease that she makes look flawless, but in reality is a hard thing to overcome, and NO ONE seems to understand that she can, and should, be a little selfish.  She's going to do an ultimate good, probably for her last act of courage, and yet, she's too in her own head.  She helps souls cross over, she fights demons, she's risking her life to help everyone, but all anyone ever says is she's selfish, and during this second re-read, it just hit me how lonely Trinity must be with everyone telling her about her flaws.  Zayne is not anywhere in my favorite male characters of JLA's book.  He's actually probably my least, or very far down the line.  But I do love this book, and series, because of Trinity and how amazing she is.  So, just needed to get that off my chest.  And even though I'm having issues with Zayne, that obviously did not deter me from loving this book or series, and I'm extremely excited to dive into book 3, the final installment of this amazing world!

My original review from May 17, 2020:
I received this free eARC novel from the author and Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

Being bonded to Zayne is problematic for Trinity. Protectors and their Trueborns are forbidden to be in a relationship with each other, which is where Trinity and Zayne were headed. Now, Trinity has slammed on the breaks, even though it just about kills her. Throw in the fact they can both feel each other's feelings, and hello awkward moments...

And then there's the Harbinger. Trying to discover who this is and what their goal is has been a struggle. Some clues lead to others, but many lead to dead ends. Trinity can't help but feel everything is going to explode at once, but she has no control without any information.

Then throw in Layla and Stacey, Roth and Co. and things are just escalating. Plus how things... ended... with Misha? Trinity's rage isn't going to stay bottled up for long. And the big reveal? Trinity didn't see that coming at all...

I say this every time Jennifer L. Armentrout releases a book and I'll keep saying it over and over: I LOVED THIS BOOK! I don't know how she does it, but JLA has created another masterpiece and completely sucked me into this world. She made me fall for each and every character, and broke my heart more times than I liked. But also made my heart race for every intense scene between Trinity and Zayne.

I seriously wanted to strangle this two love birds. They avoided each other, had close encounters, and honestly had great self restraint to not succumb to their intense feelings, which both could feel from each other, mind you. I was tense with anticipation, only to be thoroughly disappointed. But when they did give in? It was magical.

During the whole book, I tried very hard to come up with many people who could be the Harbinger. I wanted to not be shocked, like JLA tends to do to me. While I wasn't shocked,  I also did not figure out out before the big reveal.  What did shock me was the very, very end, which is what the intention was, I'm sure.

I loved the moment Trinity and Zayne had their deep, painful, intense, real conversation. It was heartbreaking, enlightening, true. They left everything on the table and aired our their dirty  laundry. I enjoy those scenes because true thoughts and feelings are finally released after being bottled up for so long.

I also loved seeing a lot of Roth and Layla and the rest of the gang. It wouldn't be the same if they were missing, and JLA gave us many moments of them.

And, as always, I am anxiously awaiting the next book already. I'm so curious how things are going to move forward and I'm sure there will be many more surprises in the future. I'm waiting to see what part Peanut and Gina have too!

Thank you again for an amazing novel, Jennifer L. Armentrout, and I'll be waiting with forced patience for the next novel!

Review: Storm and Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Storm and Fury Storm and Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Because book 3, the last book of this universe, is being released in less than 1 month, I did ANOTHER re-read and absolutely adored it for the 3rd time!  This is a must read series that EVERYONE should pick up!

My review from May 16, 2020:
I just re-read this since I have book 2 on my kindle, and I'm in just a much awe and amazement as I was the first time I read it. My review below perfectly explains my current feelings, and I can't wait to see what book 2 is going to bring.

Knowing Jennifer L. Armentrout, it's going to bring everything and leave me wanting for more!  ;)

My original review from March 20, 2019:
I received this eARC novel from the author and from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Trinity's life is different. She lives with the Wardens, but she is not a Warden. She trains like a Warden, but most in her community think that she's a human. She's not just a human. Trinity is one of the last of her kind, but she cannot let anyone know what she is. Not the Wardens, who might think she's an abomination. Not the humans, who can't comprehend what exactly she is. And definitely not the demons, for they would do anything to get their hands on her.

Trinity is just waiting for the day that her father will summon her to use her greatest weapon to stop a certain event. What the event is? She has no idea.

Things get a little complicated, though, when 3 Wardens show up. No one - never - comes to their community, so the fact that 3 new people are there, welcomed, makes Trinity go into spy mode to figure out what is happening. And that's when she bumped into Zayne, an interesting Warden with his own secrets to hide.

When Trinity's protector, Misha, gets taken by an upper level demon, Trinity is making it her mission to get her protector, but more importantly her friend, back. And to do that, she is leaving with Zayne. Trinity has always wanted to travel, but this was not what she had in mind.

The longer Trinity is away from her home, the more secrets are revealed. Not only about her, but about everything in her life. By the end of her journey, Trinity will wonder what was real and what wasn't...

Oh man. I was a little hesitant about this book. Not because I thought I wouldn't like it (it's JLA, I'll always love it!) but because it was about Zayne and I was totally Team Roth in the previous series. I was just hoping that I would find a way to connect with Zayne, but I shouldn't have worried because Armentrout was able to make me fall in love with Zayne almost as much as I love Roth. Trinity is a great fit for him, and I'm so glad that the storyline went in this direction because it is so great!!

I wish we were able to get Zayne's viewpoint throughout the novel, because I'm sure what he was thinking about Trinity would have been amazing. Zayne is such a good guy, but Trinity pushed him past some dark secrets and really tested his boundaries. It would have been amazing to see what he was thinking about her during those times.

Also, with Trinity's eye disease, which JLA also has. I really thought Armentrout did an amazing job explaining it in a way for readers to understand this rare eye disease. I can't imagining going through that process, and when Trinity freaked out when Zayne essentially blocked all vision - that would be me everyday thinking about the future not being able to see. That is my worst fear - losing my vision, and Armentrout was really brave for making her main character have something so personal to her life.

I'm so glad I didn't let me hesitance stop me from reading this book, because now I need to know more and more about what is going to happen to these characters! Fans of JLA and The Dark Elements series is going to LOVE this next installment!

Review: Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Every Last Breath Every Last Breath by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read through this book so fast 6 years ago that many details escaped my memory, so re-reading this was like reading it for the first time again!  I'm so glad I did this re-read because it reminded me of how much I ADORE this series and these characters!

Below I have my original review and I'm removing the spoiler tag.  It's been 6 years, so if you haven't read this, first, you are missing out but second, you are bound to get spoiled and I'm okay with that now.

So, SPOILERS BELOW.  That's all the notice you are getting!

My original review from July 26, 2015:
Of course I loved this book! And now, if you want to know what my REAL thoughts are, click the Spoiler link. But I'm forewarning you, I will be spilling a lot of the things that happen in this novel. I'd advise that you wait until the book comes out in 2 days to find out the awesomeness for yourself, but that one click is up to you ;)

O.M.G.! She picked Roth! I mean, I didn't have that much of a doubt about it because, come on, who doesn't love Roth? (And also, I voted for him about 50 times during the time frame on multiple computers, so yeah, those had to count for something.)

And she picked Roth in like chapter 6! So we got to read all about the sexy times she and Roth had together. JLA didn't make us wait until the gruesome end to figure out which one she loved more - you rock!

Okay, enough gushing about Roth's hotness and adorableness when it comes to Layla.

Things got pretty intense during this book. I loved every minute of it.

I also think that Layla became an amazing woman throughout this series. By the time the big decision was made after the terrible discovery became known (yes, this is all cryptic - I can't give EVERYTHING away! Jeez...), I think Layla made her choice with no hesitation, showing that she was mature beyond her years and puts a lot of people she loves before herself.

All of the rough patches JLA put us through ended with awesomeness that I am honored to have read, because there were a lot of twists and turns that happened - even right up to the last few pages!

So glad this book is finally out and we got to see what happens to the stranger and unique species that is Layla. She deserves everything that she is about to encounter in her long life, especially after everything she went through in less than a year!

And as much as I want to re-read all 4 books again (which I just did in preparation of this novel) I will refrain since I have a bazzilion other novels to read. Seriously, though, after the Lux series, The Dark Elements series is my all time favorite from JLA and she could not have made a better ending for this series.

I think a lot of readers will be very please with the outcome of this book :)
