Review: Bully by Penelope Douglas

Bully Bully by Penelope Douglas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Junior year in France was amazing for Tate. She want bullied by her ex-best friend the entire time. When she comes back to school for senior year, she decides shes not going to let Jared get to get. He's bullied her enough and she's over it.

And for the most part it works. But only because Tate is getting meaner when people try to make fun of her and shut her down. Tate doesn't want to beome Jared and she needs to find a way to forgive and forget. Somehow.

Then the unthinkable happens... She feels the old love she used to have for him. Before he became mean. But how can she feel anything for the guy who made her life miserable for the past 3 years. Some things just hurt too much...

I've been sitting on those book for a long time now. I've heard so many good things about it and I was worried all the hype would be for naught. Thankfully I loved it and now I'm kicking myself for not having read it sooner.

I'm really not sure how Tate forgave Jared. I seriously wouldnt have been able to. I wasnt the nicest person in high school, though, so to be bullied would have made me a pretty nasty person i think.

And the reason Jared was mean? That was ridiculous. I mean i can't imagine what Jared went through but to treat Tate liked that? No. Not cool.

I loved the car racing scene. Seeing Jared a bit freaked out, but seeing Tate in control really turned the tables for those two characters.

Three thing I didn't like the most? What her friend K. C. did. That was unbelievable and disrespectful to get friendship with Tate. She basically treated Tate like she was overreacting and that was just terrible in my opinion.

I'm really glad I got around to reading this and I feel like I may re-read it in the future. And maybe I'll fork over the money and buy the other books in the series.

Review: Rush Me by Allison Parr

Rush Me Rush Me by Allison Parr
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When Rachel stumbled into the wrong party, she never would have imagined getting sucked into the professional football world. As an avid reader and lover of books, football has never been on her radar.

But after sparing words back and forth with quarterback Ryan Carter, Rachel gained new friends and a new respect for the game of football.

Ryan and Rachel couldn't be any more opposite, and they are both very defensive. Attacking with words is something they are both good at, and they use those words against one another. Even when their feelings get more intense they become scared of what that could mean for their future. After so many times of putting each other down, they may not be able to forgive the unforgivable things that are said...

These two characters... sigh... they really need to find a way to channel their anger and frustrations a different way than by hurting each other. Its not healthy and they said some pretty terrible things to each other.

I loved the scenes where the majority of the football team was involved. They are a hoot to see interact with each other.

This was a good book overall. I'm glad the characters grew throughout the novel.

Review: Fall with Me by Julie Patricka

Fall with Me Fall with Me by Julie Particka
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Jenna's life was demolished when she was informed that her fiance, Adam, and get best friend, Lacey, were together. Not only did she lose the man she was about to marry, but she couldn't even get consoled by her best friend since she was the one who ripped them apart!

Now she is just trying to survive the summer at her parents until she can get a job far away from the two backstabbers.

Sadly she is reminded of Lacey everyday because she is working with her older brother, Sutton. Who Jenna has a crush on, but was rejected by him so many years ago that left her humiliated.

Sutton comes up with a plan to break his sister and Adam up, and he needs Jenna for it. But he's also hoping that his plan will end with him and Jenna together...

This was an okay novel. It was a bit hard connecting with Jenna and Sutton for the majority of the book. And they would go from being friends to lovers within seconds which kinda gave me whiplash. Jenna is full of a lot of hate and self doubt for obvious reasons but then she would do a 360 and be happy go lucky.

I figured out Lacey's secret very early on and I think Jenna might have too if she wasnt trying to avoid them. I would have wanted to know why right away so the secret could have been uncovered so much earlier.

Whispers in the Woods, Vol. 3 Whispers in the Woods, Vol. 3 by T.J. Dell

I enjoyed this series. I dont really like how rushed and abrupt the ending was of this though. There are a lot of unanswered questions and situations at the end that i think another book would have been able to address but I think I'll get over it. I'm glad i got a chance to read this.

I liked this sequel. Having Evie and Lucas somewhat talked to each other helped them come to terms in what their future holds. I also liked the new characters from Lucas's home come and see them act around Evie.

Im getting the feeling that this author loves cliffhangers by the way this book ended, so I'm glad i have the next book all ready for me. I'm very intrigued to see what happens.

Evie isnt really loving life right now. After her parents died and she moved in with her grandma, she's just been moving minute by minute, but not really living. When she meets Lucas, though she feels alive. But Lucas has a secret. A big secret. One that may cost Evie her life of he doesn't clue Evie on soon...

I enjoyed this book, more than I thought I would. At first it was a bit rough but then I really got into the story and now I need to know what happens after that bit of a cliffhanger.

This was just okay. The characters were distant and never really talked about what they were thinking or feeling, which caused a lot of problems for them overall. And neither were fighters so they just let things progress without any encouragement to change their actions.

Review: Falling for the Ghost of You by Nicole Christie

Falling for the Ghost of You Falling for the Ghost of You by Nicole Christie
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Violet's life got a heck of a lot more exciting when she got back from her summer in Hawaii. Her boyfriend was cheating on her, her mom found the love of her life and is already engaged, and senior year is off to a great start.

Then she met her future step-brother, Zane. Who makes her think really inappropriate things considering they are going to be family...

After finding herself somewhat homeless, Violet find herself staying with Zane... and trying to avoid temptation. But the tension between the two of them caused the flames to rise more than they could handle.

Just when things seemed to be going great, Violet finds out a secret Zane had been keeping from her. Something she may not be able to forgive him for...

I enjoyed this book. It was full of angst and temptation and sexual tension. It was full of secrets and little white lies.

I didn't really care for Violet, I must admit. I stuck through the book to be with Zane if we are being honest. Violet was too insecure and untrusting of Zane. It grew tiresome to always see her quizzing him because she saw him look at another girl.

Overall this was a good book. I'm glad I finally got a chance to read it.

This was a pretty good short novel! It was fast paced, had mystery and paranormal in it, and kept my full attention. I'm also glad for the solid ending and nothing left open or unanswered.

Out of the 3 books, this was probably my favorite. Laynie and Josh seemed like they had a good connection with each. They only thing is I think Josh should have said something sooner if he really did like her for that long.

These stories were okay overall. I think them being so short was the downfall because it made the overall story less without more information. They were a nice read though.

Oh my... I didn't really enjoy this book that much... Brittany and Wyatt have been pining over each other for a year and never spoke to each other about what really happened that made Brittany break up with him. Then all of a sudden they talk and everything is forgiven?!? Why wouldn't they want to talk to each other and figure out what happened if they really liked each other??? So ridiculous...

This was an okay book. The big reveal came out of nowhere because the reader knew nothing of the character's past. Then when the big reveal happened things go so fast between the two characters its crazy. It was a fast read. I'm not going to read anymore in the series but it was a nice read.

Review: Children of Blood and Bone

Children of Blood and Bone Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book really surprised me. I admit, I let the size intimidate me but honestly it didnt take me that long to read this 500+ page book. I was actually really sad when it was over.

Zelie is an amazing character. She is strong and determined but also kind hearted and sentimental. She is a complex character that really wants life to get better for everyone. She loves fully and completely and the amount of heartbreak she's been through is more than one person can stand.

The world building was amazing and the author did a great job explaining the way this world is run.

All of the characters have layers and layers of then that fall throughout the novel and you really get to understand the real character.

I also loved how this was through multiple view points so the reader gets to really see what is going on.

This author is kinda brutal to he3t characters. The second you start to love them they usually end up dead... just a forewarning!

I'm so glad I had to read this for book club because I didn't know what I was missing until now! I'm very excited for the next book to come out this year and cant wait to see what happens!

Review: Next to You by Daisy Prescott

Next to You Next to You by Daisy Prescott
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sage and Stan have been neighbors for the last couple of years and have become really good friends. Secretly, though they have both wanted more from each other but never told each other. So when Stan gets the opportunity to cash in on a bet he won, he chances their friendship and goes all in by having him and Sage "fake date" each other.

Things go well, but both are wanting their relationship to be real. Thr problem is they aren't sure how the other one feels, and risking their friendship is something they don't want to lose. Waiting to long, though, may also cause them to lose everything...

This was a cute novel. There were a lot of moments of repetition and both characters were very unsure to express their feelings, so it got a bit old after awhile. But it was nice to see them finally figure things out and tell the other one.

Review: Phoenix Rising by Erica Stevens

Phoenix Rising Phoenix Rising by Erica Stevens
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a great ending to this series. Everything was wrapped up nicely and all of the issues were resolved. I feel like it was to good of a happily ever after but that's okay I suppose.

The thing about this series is the repetition, which I noticed the most in this novel. The author would get stuck on one phrase and use it 10 times to really emphasize her point instead of moving on. It got to be a lot by the end of the 5 books.

I'm glad I got a chance to read this series!
