Review: Variation by Rebecca Yarros

Variation Variation by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is such a beautiful book full of secrets, mysterious, epic love, and figuring out what really makes a person happy.

Hudson and Allie are destined to be together. Everyone can see that. But their journey has taken too many wrong turns that they don't know how to get on the right path again. Thank goodness for Juniper and her demanding ways. Honestly, Hudson and Allie owe that girl so much for restarting their journey.

Allie's life is stressful. Having to wear masks ke and always bending herself into pieces to make everyone in her life happy. But she not happy. Not one bit. She's going through the motions and focuses on everyone else around her. I adore her for that but also? That's ridiculous. A martyr from morning to night.

Hudson is amazing. Yes he messed up 10 years ago, but the devotion and love and intensity he feels towards Allie? I swooned so many times. He realizes he's getting a second chance and he goes all out to ensure he finally gets his happily every after. And I'm here for all of it.

Per usual, this is a pure Rebecca Yarros book where you feel so many emotions and have so many surprises. Don't worry, this isn't gutwrenching for once. But to be in bit Allie and Hudson's shoes and going through the old memories and discovering everything they thought they knew was wrong? Going through the mental trauma of getting over your past horrors? So much to unpack.

I'm so glad I finally got to read this and that I loved it so! Can't wait for more!

Review: Quicksilver by Callie Hart

Quicksilver Quicksilver by Callie Hart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

More like 3.5 stars. Goodreads needs half stars for ratings....

Also this review WILL HAVE SPOILERS. Read with caution if you don't want to get spoiled. This is the only warning I give.

This book has been talked about so much. It's like Fourth Wing all over again. But I'm always leery going into these highly raved books.

Saeris is an interesting character. I love her loyalty to her friends, family and people of the Third. I love that she a fighter. She is determined to get justice and she knows if she's caught at least she was doing what she needed to do. Her brother is weak and immature and I definitely don't like him. Maybe if we meet him again he will have changed and I'll like him more but I doubt it.

When presented with her skills and being in an entirely different world, she seemed to accept it a little too easily? Maybe it's the fighter and survivor in her? I dunno, it threw me off a lot though.

Kingfisher is definitely a man a few words and is quick to action with no explanation. He has a lot riding on his shoulders but never wants to take responsibility for anything. He has all this power, but doesn't use it that often? He doesn't tire from it, it seems like, but it's not his first instinct to use it... I'm not sure why that bothers me.

The progression of their relationship also kind of annoyed me. Both were so adamant they hated each other but taunts were thrown about heartbeats and scents. Then out of nowhere they were removing clothes and tattoos were forming? I get enemies but since we only got Saeris viewpoint it left a lot more to be desired with the growth in their relationship.

There are so many pieces of this book. You have Madras world. Kingfisher's world. The gods and their story. Malcolm. All were fine in their own way but were choppy the way it was pieced together.

Vampires and witches and fae and gods, this book covers them all. Having Saeris become half fae half Vampire will be interesting in book 2. Having her lead the vampires will be interesting.

But that's all i feel? Interested? Not blown away? I didn't hate it. I'm curious to see where it goes. But I'm not dying for every copy of existence. So I'll be curious to see how book 2 goes whenever it gets released. And I can say I've now read it.

Review: Sweet Prison by Neva Altaj

Sweet Prison Sweet Prison by Neva Altaj
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Holy moly! I think this is my favorite Neva Altaj book to date! I know I say that every time, but i absolutely loved Zahara and Massimo. Both are so uniquely different from each other but they complete one another so much it would be impossible to separate them.

I love the pen pal portion of this book. Seeing Zahara grow confidence by helping Massimo was amazing. And seeing how much Massimo dominated life in prison was insane. They both loved separate worlds, yet gravitated to each other in another level without having meet essentially.

And when they met for the first time and saw each other? That connection that zapped them both? Yeah I was thoroughly hooked.

Massimo's insane possessiveness toward Zahara was intense. I loved that only she could talk him down from making completely rash decisions. And Zahara's confidence growing more and more? Learning to love everything about herself? The best part of this book.

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this book and to be able to fall in love with these characters!

Review: Rebel Witch by Kristen Ciccarelli

Rebel Witch Rebel Witch by Kristen Ciccarelli
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

I'm so glad I reread Heartless Hunter before diving into this book to refresh my memory of what happened. Because this book dives right into the story continuing Rune and Gideon's adventure.

We get another version of Rune in this book when she's under Cressida's leadership. And can I say this version is my least favorite. No longer the strong, rebellious Crimson Moth but instead a docile follower.

I'm glad throughout the book she was reminded of who she was deep down, though a lot of events happened that set her back in her confidence and powerful magic.

And Gideon. This boy can deny his feelings so well but we all know he's doomed when it comes to Rune. But he really did try to fight his heart with his head, though he was never successful.

I loved the twist and turns and secret reveals that happened. I discovered all of them before it was revealed but still enjoyed all of the reactions and events that followed. I'm so glad I decided to read this series because it was a great story the author gave us! Can't wait to add the physical copy to my collection!

Review: Emperor of Lust by Jagger Cole

Emperor of Lust Emperor of Lust by Jagger Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Damien and Hana are fantastic together. The intensity between the two of them throughout the whole book was through the roof. I love how chaotic Damien is and how everyone knows what a lose cannon he is. I feel like he should have been a little bit more over the top based on others viewpoints of him. But I think that he calmed down a bit once he set his sights on Hana.

And I love how fierce Hana of about most things but still had her fears and weaknesses. I also love that the one thing she scared never happens when she's with Damien. Inside she knew he wasn't being malicious and she had to have had some trust in him.

This book has so many storylines, so many twists and turns that I never knew what was going to be revealed next. I absolutely love Jagger Coles writing and can't wait to read the next book already!
