Review: The Games Gods Play by Abigail Owen

The Games Gods Play The Games Gods Play by Abigail Owen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I'm so glad the sprayed edges looked gorgeous in this book which is why I decided to read it because I LOVED this story! It's The Hunger Games meets Percy Jackson and I inhaled it in less than 24 hours. I couldn't stop reading and even though I predicted the ending, I was so for it. I'm just bummed I didn't wait until closer to September when book 2 releases cause now the wait will feel like forever!

Lyra is fantastic. She's so guarded but the most kind hearted person. All she's ever wanted was for someone to choose her, to care about her, but Zeus's curse wont allow that to happen. So she just goes through the motions day by day.

Hey getting picked as Hades champion? Seeing those two interact over and over again? Seeing Hades slowly lose the battle to not fall for her, and vise versa? I loved every bit of it. And seeing Lyra help her competitors over and over and over again? She's who everyone should aspire to be honestly.

I'm so curious what will happen next, especially since Boone is with her. And also with Zai. So many things to come and I'm ready for it all to be revealed in book 2 later this year! What a great book to start the new year!

Review: For Whom the Belle Tolls by Jaysea Lynn

For Whom the Belle Tolls For Whom the Belle Tolls by Jaysea Lynn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I've been hearing so many great things about this book and had to dive into it! I will say the title and cover have a very different vibe for me than what the story actually is. I dunno what I think the cover should be, but i was surprised by the storyline line the farther i read.

I honestly did enjoy this book a lot. I think it talks about a lot of important things that many people gloss over in life, but I've honestly thought about these key points many times. So to read a book about it was very surprising and relatable.

Lily is an amazing person. An amazing soul. I teared up so much at the beginning when we walked with her in her human life. How she made the hard sacrifice to not continue treatment because it would cost her family so much. So knew she wasn't going to make it and still kept on a brave face for her parents and brothers. That alone shows the amazing heart she has and how good she is, even though she would argue differently.

Then when she gets to the Afterlife and decides to start the Hellp Desk? Such a brilliant idea. So many souls would want to do the same. I would at least! I love that she never judged the demons because they looked different with tails, horns, claws and different colored skin. She treated them like any other person she's met before and that was so beautiful.

Meeting all the big bad scary demons at the same time was awesome. Lillith, Lucifer, Hades and so many more. All in one room! And they are sweethearts which i loved so much. I don't know much about Beleth, but the Bel we get to know in this book is fantastic. The best match for Lily!

Like I said, I was pleasantly surprised by this book and I'm glad I read it! I'll be on the lookout for the next book and hoping it's Greg's story because that man needs a HEA!

Review: We Met Like This by Kasie West

We Met Like This We Met Like This by Kasie West
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I'm a giant fan of Kasie West with her YA novels, so i was very intrigued that this was an adult story. I think Kasie West did a great job with her debut, though i think I do love her YA a bit more.

Margot is like every real adult I've ever met: struggling, tired, worn down, and losing hope that the dream will happen. I related to her a lot on those aspects. What i didn't really relate to was her intense need to have a meet cute moment and to find the guy she will instantly love. Maybe because I already had that cute moment and it went up in flames? Either way, I feel like her constantly talking about that and always wanting to find the right guy just got really old really fast. Happiness does not mean being with "the one" but I know that is subject to each persons wishes.

Oliver is quirky and fun and serious and Margot's the complete opposite. Seeing those two together was very entertaining cause you just never knew what was going to happen.

I loved the agent/ editor side of this novel. I'm sure most of it is similar to how this profession works in the real world so that was fun to see the process.

I'm glad I finally read this and I am interested to see what else Kasie West releases!

Review: The Never List by Jade Presley

The Never List The Never List by Jade Presley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book has been on my tbr since it first came out and I'm mad it took me this long to read!

Rylee is such a fighter and I love her so much. She brave and determined and wicked smart. I loved seeing her battle with powerful people and surviving to tell the tale.

And the boys?! I wouldn't mind being Rylee that's for sure! Axl, Jax, Kal, and Pierson are all broody, swoon-worthy, and down right sinful. Each are so unique in their own way, but extremely similar in other ways. I'm always on team bad boy so Jax was by far my favorite of the bunch determined though he was the most stubborn one.

The storyline regarding Rylee's sister was predictable to me. The ending was a cliffhanger. I'm excited to see what happens next with these characters and their mostly awful fathers.

Review: Half-Light Harbor by Samantha Young

Half-Light Harbor Half-Light Harbor by Samantha Young
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

Samantha Young is seriously one of my top authors. Any time I sit down to read a book by her, I get sucked into the story and never want to leave. It could be a brand new story or one I've read 100 times and I will still be spell bound by anything this author writes!

Tierney and Ramsay are phenomenal together. I can't put into words how well these two click when they are around one another. They may have lived completely different lives and be far apart in age, but there is no denying they are destined to be together, even though they are both extremely stubborn.

Tierney is so strong willed and independent. She is kind, tough, smart and intelligent. Seeing her restsrt in Scotland was honestly inspiring. She's gone through so much grief and sadness. I love how she adored her parents and how their deaths affected her so strongly.

Ramsay is so swoon-worthy. The way he protects and had endless resources. How he's not afraid to go to the end of the earth to stop the enemy in their tracks. He may be his worst nightmare though by self destructing his own happiness, but he protects what's important to him. Also? Akira? Absolutely love her to pieces!

So glad I got to read this story and meet these amazing characters! I can't wait to explore even more with future novels!

Review: Dance of Defiance by Jagger Cole

Dance of Defiance Dance of Defiance by Jagger Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Valentine PR. This is my honest review.

I have said it before and i will say it again, but anything Jagger Cole writes, I will read and love. I don't read MM novels, I think I've read 2 others and they were okay for me. But this MM novel? I flew through it with no problems and couldn't get enough of it.

Roman and Val have had so many moments leading up to their book that the anticipation was endless. Roman didn't make it easy for Val as he was still trying to figure out what he wanted and how he could accept it, which we all knew was coming. But the moments between them were extremely intense!

I loved seeing Val in this light. With the ballet group, he's the flirty, innocent, good nature guy. But with Roman? The way he took control and how Roman melted for him? It was a dynamic I wasn't expecting but loved it from start to finish!

I also love how the reveal went with their found family and how confident Roman became throughout this novel.

I feel like this book was heavier with the relationship than with the Mafia side compared to the other books in the series, but no complaints are coming from me.

So glad I got the chance to read this novel and I absolutely can't wait for the next 2 books in the series based on who I believe the next 2 couple are!!

Review: The Wolf King by Lauren Palphreyman

The Wolf King The Wolf King by Lauren Palphreyman
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I saw the deluxe edition and decided to read this to see if I would own it. Thankfully while I liked it, I didn't love it so my bank account is safe this time!

Aurora is a pawn used over and over in this book from one male to another. I really felt for her and all that she's gone through during her whole life honestly. She's just a bargaining chip and that's a terrible way to live your life. I'm glad she learned to grow a backbone throughout this novel.

I'm honestly more on Team Blake than Team Callum. Those dark, mysterious bad boys really do get me i guess. Callum is great, though he assumes a lot and doesn't think things through too well. Blake, though? He's always thinking and planning and plotting. I gotta commend him for that.

Im glad I got the chance to read this and maybe one day I'll read the next books when they are finished to see how it ends. But if i don't, I won't be that mad about it either.
