Black Ties & White Lies by Kat SingletonMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
I decided to read this book because a book box is doing a SE to see if I wanted that version. And while I really liked this story, I don't need a SE so yay for saving money but yay for reading a pretty darn good book!
I love Margo. She's feisty, but dealing with a wounded heart and she's not ready to deal with another Sinclair brother who will more than likely break her once again. I love that she has hopes and dreams, but that she was stuck in a crummy job due to the ex in her life. Seeing her thrive in New York and loving the culture and world there was fantastic.
Beck is so...extra, and I loved it. In order to get Margo's attention, he buys the company that she's employed with. Like, seriously? Can you get any more spoiled than that? Then to make Margo go to New York because he "promoted" her to work for him while he wooed her... I mean, I loved how extra he was, but do people really do those kinds of things? Also? If I were Margo? I would have quit my job if I was put into that type of situation because no one, no how!
I think the communication between these two was rough and agonizing most times. They fought so much just because they didn't want to cave first about whatever subject they were talking about. I mean, the tension was crazy, but come on. At some point just gain some confidence and let everything out.
So, yeah, this was enjoyable and I'm glad I read it. I'm very curious about Emma and Winnie and may eventually read their stories, but this was a good first book by this author for me!
