Review: The Penalty Shot by Maren Moore

The Penalty Shot The Penalty Shot by Maren Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author.  This is my honest review.

I've been along for the whole journey of Totally Pucked, but I seriously think this book goes above and beyond the other ones.  Asher is 100% swoon-worthy and I was seriously stunned at how much I loved him!  He wears his heart on his sleeve and really explains what he's feeling every second.  Thank goodness I finally found a book where the characters are honest, open, and don't want to keep secrets from each other.

This book was perfect from page 1 to the last because it was all about growing together, learning everything about each other, and just making each other a better person because the other one was in their lives.  I don't think I'm articulating this correctly, but it was just an amazing novel.

Asher surprised me with his openness from the beginning.  And when he was around Auden and Alex more, it just got better and better.  I loved that he helped Auden grow into an even strong, more vocal and opinionated woman than she already was.  She needed someone like Asher to be there and help her express what she really wants in herself and in life.  Being around her toxic parents, or even not being around them, really made her shield her wants and needs, so to see her open up and start to believe in a happily ever after was pure amazingness.

Also, Asher with Alex?  I love their relationship and I love how amazing that little boy is.  He honestly is so much more mature than his age and how he really loves his mom so much.  When they had family conversations, Alex didn't ignore them, but really thought about his answers before giving them.  Alex also grew into a more confident boy and I absolutely know it's because Asher was there to help and guide him along the way.

Also, the spice?  O. M. G.  I was NOT expecting any of that, but it was lighting the pages on fire!  I was holding my breath for each and every scene and I just loved every second of it.

I 100% recommend this book - and all of the other books in the series!  They are amazing stories that leave you completely satisfied with where the characters end up and how their journey only makes them a stronger, amazing person.  I am so glad I got the chance to read this book and I will, of course, be on the look out for more!!
