Wilder by Rebecca YarrosMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
Paxton and Leah are polar opposites from each other, and that made their story extremely consumable. I loved how much of a daredevil Paxton is and such an adrenaline junkie. Leah is extremely timid after her accident (which I would be too) but you can tell she wants to get over the fear and flashbacks she has and is going out of her comfort zone.
Pax is a perfect person to gently help her do that. He pushes her, but not so far that she completely hides away from the world. Instead, he talks her into it because deep down she really wants to do it.
I love the idea of literally having classes and rooming on a cruise ship for an entire school year. Would I do? Nope, I can't swim and I'd honestly have a panic attack I'm sure, but the idea of it is fascinating to me. Some of the tricks Pax and the Renegades did on the ship? Not so believable, but it shows how filthy rich Pax is, haha.
The person responsible for all the sabotage of the tricks? Definitely didn't see that coming, so Rebecca definitely surprised me there. And I love the leadup for book 2 and that we already have a good deal of their backstory.
As always, I have once again consumed another Rebecca Yarros book and have been left wanting more. Very glad I have the next two books in the series and I'm glad I finally got this book to read!
