Review: To Cage a Wild Bird by Brooke Fast

To Cage a Wild Bird To Cage a Wild Bird by Brooke Fast
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book is definitely a version of the hunger games, so i was intrigued and hoped i enjoyed it. And it was good, but i got bored a bunch during my read and didn't really feel any emotions towards the characters.

I loved that Raven was a bounty hunter - that was fun to see her get the criminals. And I commend her for going to get her brother. But the Romance with Vale was blah to me. The deaths that happened with side characters didn't affect me that much. I just wanted to get to the end to see what happened but I'm not really interested in the adventure that awaits in the next book. So I'm glad I read it and how other readers love it more than I did.

Review: Longing for Liberty by Wendy Higgins

Longing for Liberty Longing for Liberty by Wendy Higgins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Oh boy. This book is heavy. It's also scary. And makes me realize I'm very much like Liberty six years prior to the worst day of the lives in the USA.

I don't know how Libby did it. How she was with Amos the way she was. How she conformed to the new society. How she was able to seem meek and lowly wheen she had so much rage and anger and justice inside of her. I would not have survived the beginning years. I would have fought tooth and nail. I would have ended it all before becoming a slave. My temperament would not be able to hold my sharp tongue or expressive face.

This book made me uncomfortable because for the Itty bitty little bit I've seen in today's news, I feel like this isn't far off from our world. And that is probably the scariest nightmare I'll ever have. I should be more aware of what's going on and invoke my rights, but I'm just hiding away, hoping it will go away.

Libby is a hero. She sacrificed herself, her mind, her body, her soul, to penetrate the situation and got results. She deserves happiness and from the ending we got it looks like she's on her way there.

This book is unlike anything I've read. I tend to read happy romances. But Wendy Higgins is an auto read and buy author, so i knew i had to read this novel. And while it was definitely uncomfortable, it brought a lot of thoughts and realizations to me that will stay with me for years to come I'm sure.

Review: The Primal of Blood and Bone by Jennifer L Armentrout

The Primal of Blood and Bone The Primal of Blood and Bone by Jennifer L. Armentrout
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is a beast. Seriously a giant book full of so much information I felt a bit overwhelmed at times. I definitely needed to do a reread and didn't so I was a bit lost at times but finally got caught up.

Some questions were answered. Some mysteries are revealed. New questions come up. Frustrated feelings will arise by going on and on about the same topics work no answers in sight. This book is here to destroy everything inside you.

Poppy, Cas and Kieran and everyone else in this series has gone through so much turmoil and grief and despair. This book continues that journey. We meet characters from another series, we met new characters, and we lose beloved characters. You will go through so much devastation in the last 10% of this book that it will leave you speechless. I know readers will be left wanting more as that is how I currently am, but there is a lot to unpack in this book and i will for sure have to do a deep reread to catch everything that i missed.

Review: Direbound by Sable Sorensen

Direbound Direbound by Sable Sorensen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I heard the tagline Fourth Wing meets Hunger Games, I knew i had to read this book. And I'm glad I did because of course I love it.

Let me tell you the turmoil and trauma I went through yelling at Meryn throughout this book. She is so determined and fierce but she can't see the signs when they are right in front of her face. I saw them miles and miles away and was screaming at her to stop but of course she didn't. So she went through some bad situations, all her owning making.

I love the trails. I love how bloody it gets. I love how dark Meryn gets and now Anassa revels in her darkness. I didn't love her wolf keeping quiet. I get why she had to but it was frustrating on all ends even the reader. I didn't love certain characters (which I wasn't supposed to) while loving others so much.

I'm going to hate waiting until May 26 to read the sequel but you can bet I'll devour it!

Review: What Fury Brings by Tricia Levenseller

What Fury Brings What Fury Brings by Tricia Levenseller
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I'm a big fan of Tricia Levenseller, so giving this a 3 star is hard for me. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I was honestly just not vibing with this storyline. Slavery is always a touchy subject, no matter what gender is the slave.

I love the idea of women being stronger and the dominant gender who does out the roles and punishments. But honestly this book just seemed a bit boring to me. And awkward.

Olerra is a kind hearted, war general, almost but not quite princess. She's got a lot going on but essentially she wants to take care of her people. She's not afraid to go to battle even though she doesn't have the strength so women have.

Santos fights so hard to not adapt to the customs of Ammara. Tooth and nail fights it. But he also accepts their rules are better than his country. A lot of hypocritical moments that happen for Santos.

So... yeah. It was okay. Not great. Not enough spice that most adult Romantasies have. I'm glad I read it so i don't need all the special editions being released.

Review: Duplicity by Elodie Hart

Duplicity Duplicity by Elodie Hart
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A book ad got me intrigued for this book so I decided to give it a go. It was pretty good. Marlowe definitely is commited to getting her child healthy again that she will do whatever it takes.

Brendan is basically a man child who always gets what he wants. He does redeem himself at the end of the book, though, I'll give him that. This was a good break between fantasy novels and I'm glad I decided to read it.

Review: Warrior Princess Assassin by Brigid Kemmerer

Warrior Princess Assassin Warrior Princess Assassin by Brigid Kemmerer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Almost everyone I know has given this 5 stars but for me? I was a bit bored with it, to be honest. I'm not sure why, maybe because they were traveling for 80% of the book? And maybe because these characters just don't seem to know who they want to be with, even if it's all 3 together? Lots of hesitation, lots of uncertainty, lots of judgement that gets brush off later...

All of the characters are broken in their own way too, which was fascinating to see which character will be the one to slowly help and fix the issue at hand.

But yeah, I dunno, Ky, Jory and Asher are just a little too indecisive for my taste I guess. I think book 2 will probably be good with the revenge and vengeance that should happen, but i also think they will take their sweet time to follow through like they took their sweet time to get to Ky's country.

Review: Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider

Metal Slinger Metal Slinger by Rachel Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book has blown me away with the amount of twists and turns and secrets and deceiving and just all around shock that comes out of nowhere. I have 1,000 questions with no answers and I have been thinking about the surprises all day wondering how I missed everything!

Brynne...Jovie? I'm calling her Jovie. She's extremely determined, a fighter, smart and so much more. Seeing her get shunned over and over again was hard to see because deep down everyone wants to be accepted. But she didn't let anyone see how she felt and kept making sure she was going toward her goal.

Acker is an enigma. I was drawn to him right away. There are so many personalities to him, but under all of it i can tell he's just a man wanting to find his happily ever after.

That ending? THAT ENDING?! I literally sat there staying at the book wondering what on earth happened because I didn't see any of it at all. So many things got revealed and I felt like I was short circuiting. It was so much all at once with no warning and I feel a reread happening in my future. I'm so sad book 2 is so far away!

I honestly didn't expect to love this book as much as I did. I'm not sure love is the right word, but I'm obsessed to find out more and will be impatiently waiting until I can hopefully get some answers!

Review: King of the Cage by Mila Kane

King of the Cage King of the Cage by Mila Kane
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Meh, I got bored with the story regarding the zombie drug and the secret society of old men taking control over women because they are incompetent. I wanted more moments with Giada and Bran but it was taking forever for things to happen.
