Review: Together We Caught Fire by Eva V. Gibson

Together We Caught Fire Together We Caught Fire by Eva V. Gibson
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from Edelweiss. This is my honest review.

I really wanted to like this book, but it just fell short for me, sadly. Thankfully I'm in the few who feel this way, so I'm hoping that all of the readers will feel different than me.

All of these characters are unstable, they are dealing with A LOT and this is a heavy subject to deal with. My issue was that I felt very apart from the characters. I couldn't connect with them, Lane was an emotional wreck (with good reason) and it felt like she was on paper. I couldn't keep up with what she was thinking and feeling and who was the guy for her and how she was just dealing with life. But even the secondary characters were having their own issues and I just feel like it might have been an overload on how troubled the characters were. Though in today's society, this may be how teens feel and what they are going through, so it could be very relevant to today's teen readers - I'm not sure.

The Connor and Grayson situation was very confusing for me. I couldn't figure out what was going on until it was already over and then another issue was happening.

Overall, I'm glad I got a chance to read this book, but it just wasn't right for me. I hope other readers will enjoy it though!
