Review: Let's Pretend by River Laurent

Let's Pretend Let's Pretend by River Laurent
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this eARC from BookSirens and the author. This is my honest review.

Scarlette can't believe that her evil step-mother has control over her family house after her father dies. For some reason, her father listed his current wife to get the lands, rather than Scarlette who WANTS to have her house! The only way for her to work around her step-mother? Marry a man who Scarlette has pined over the years (though she refuses to admit that) but knows nothing about.

Zach has built his empire by buying out businesses on the verge of bankrupting and making a fortune from their loses. He has dealt with a lot of issues, but having Scarlette come to ask him to marry her so she can get her house was not something he saw coming. But Zach has always felt a strong attraction to Scarlette, so this shouldn't be too much of a hardship for him. He's basically getting the one thing he's been denied of for the past few years.

The plan is in motion, but neither Zach nor Scarlette could predict how the ending would turn out...

This was a pretty good novel! I liked it very much, and it was a very fast read! Both of the characters are likable and the attraction between the two bursts into flames whenever they are around each other. It almost makes it unbelievable that they hadn't hooked up far sooner than this chance encounter, by the way they react to one another.

I was able to predict the ending on how everything would go. This isn't a mystery, but it was very obvious by the way things were going.

I think many readers will enjoy this novel, and I may keep an eye out for more novels by River Laurent!
