This was a decent novel. There were times when the book skipped past a long period of time and I feel like the characters bonded together, but the reader didn't really witness it too much, so it felt a bit fast paced. But I loved how Madeline instantly knew how to calm and take care of Clara. She's a natural with kids, which fascinates me because I'm terrified of children.
Derek is the one that had the most character development throughout this story. I was pretty impressed with him by the end of the book.
Overall I really it was a good novel. Glad I got a chance to read it!
