Review: Reckless Kiss by Tia Louise

Reckless Kiss Reckless Kiss by Tia Louise
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions.  This is my honest review.

This is my first book I've read by Tia Louise, and I was HOOKED from the beginning!  I love Tia's writing and I was entranced into this story immediately.

I don't read too many forbidden love stories, but Angel (I'm going to call her Angel in this review since that is what Deacon called her throughout the whole novel) and Deacon's story really got my attention and kept me invested to see how things would work out for them.  I love how they first met when Angel bumped into him and they instantly had a connection.  And that they were it for one another and knew they were.  They never strayed or got interested in anyone else - it was love at first sight.  Usually those stories bother me because that doesn't tend to be true too much, but I was able to feel how they felt toward one another and it was very sweet to read about two people who felt that intense toward one another.

I really felt for Angel when she had to deal with her brother.  I get that in Hispanic culture, staying and living with family for forever is common, but Angel didn't necessarily grow up with that mind set and she's an adult.  When her brother comes barging into her life and almost forcing her to move in with him and take his money and his fancy things, I would have rebelled way harder than Angel did.  I know she is trying to stay close to her family members, but I am a very independent person, so that would have rubbed me the wrong way.

I also really loved Deacon.  He was so TENACIOUS to find out what had happened between their two families to do so with proof to make things right.  I mean, he spent a month going after clue after clue, and I just really loved that he did that to finally put things right between everyone because he loves Angel so much.

Sophie, Angel's cousin, is adorable and I loved her innocence in this sometimes dark novel.  And Aunt Winnie!  At first she was a snob, but when she brought out that shot gun?! She got my respect and attention all at the same time.

I really enjoyed this novel and I'm really glad I got a chance to read this book.  I am definitely going to look into more of Tia Louise's novels and her upcoming books as well!
