Review: Summer of Sloane

Summer of Sloane Summer of Sloane by Erin L. Schneider
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this free eARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Wow. I really didn't think I would like this book as much as I did! If Goodreads would revisit their settings and give half stars, this would be a 4.5 star rating from me!

I thought I would hate Sloane after awhile because she was a broken record about her feelings toward her ex-best friend and ex-boyfriend. And she was, don't get me wrong. But she was JUSTIFIED in being a broken record! She DESERVED to do things for herself rather than having to listen to those two make excuses and try to win her friendship/relationship back. Because, really, why should she have to forgive them for breaking her heart and ruining her future? That's what Mick and Tyler did - all the things Sloane thought she was going to have in her future crumbled before her when she found out their betrayal.

So, yes, I thought Sloane did a great job going to Hawaii with her mom, step-dad, and brother, and proceeded to "do Sloane" and not worry about the terrible time that Mick and Tyler were going through. They did it to themselves!

Gah, the whole situation with those two makes me so ANGRY!!!

Anyway, moving on. I loved Sloane in Hawaii. She was doing different things and finally living her life, which she needed to do for this summer. And I so fell in love with Finn. He was all goofy and handsome and confident. I was a fan of Sloane+Finn.

But, really, I was a fan of Sloane. This girl has some great morals and she is a black-and-white kinda girl. So when the big plot twist came at the end with Finn, she stuck to her guns and did what she thought was right, even though you could tell it was killing her more to do this with Finn than it did with Tyler, making it obvious that she had more feelings for Finn. It would have been easy to have forgiven him and continue seeing him, but she totally stuck to her guns and for that I love Sloane.

I am very stunned as to how much I loved this book, and am so glad I was able to get a free eARC! I am definitely going to look into this author a lot more, after having a great response to this book!
